blankMacy's has launched “Believe”, the annual tradition of the New York store for the benefit of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, asking once again its customers to send their letters to Santa Claus in their establishments to support the foundation. This year the novelty is that customers take their letters to the “Believe Stations” in Macy's stores you can take pictures with the animated stars of the campaign, Virginia, Ollie and his friends, through augmented reality technology.

This nostalgic Christmas campaign is inspired by the famous editorial of the New York Sun “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” of 1987. From the 6 November, Macy's stores across the country include “Believe Stations” to write Santa Mail letters and mailboxes in which people of all ages send their letters. For each letter received, Macy's Donates a Dollar to make-A-Wish Foundation, up to one million dollars, to make the wishes of children with serious illnesses come true.

This year, the campaign “Believe” includes "Macy's Believe-o-Magic" augmented reality technology that allows customers to bring their cards to the “Believe Stations” in Macy's stores take a picture with the animated stars of the campaign, Virginia and Ollie, of the animated Christmas special “Yes, Virginia”.

Martine Reardon, Executive Vice President of Macy's, has pointed out: “Using the new augmented reality technology, customers with IOS and smartphones can “go down” the application “Macy's Believe-o-Magic” that allows them to open the magic to interact with Virginia, Ollie and his friends. Customers can take a photo, that can be used for a Christmas greeting to send via e-mail or on Facebook. Customers can also take the magic home by copying the app and printing the bookmark.. When pointing the camera “Macy's Believe-o-magic” to the marker, you can see a lively Virginia skating in her own house!”.

The application “Macy's Believe-o-Magic” has been created and produced by Macy's and JWT in collaboration with Metaio GmbH and The Ebeling Group.
