Real-time information signage on the parquet floor
Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, Euroservices, AOpen and Display Evolution Klocktornet (DESIGN) have carried out the implementation of the new digital signage system of the Madrid Stock Exchange, an ambitious project that has consisted of a synchronised system of 30 Monitors around the floor of the emblematic building that show real-time information on stock market values.
The Palacio de la Bolsa de Madrid is the largest of the four stock exchanges in Spain and one of the most important national and international benchmarks in the stock market. This egregious building built at the end of the 1800 is managed by Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), the operator of all securities markets and financial systems in Spain.
When stocks and deposits are traded in this financial space, Nothing is more important than real-time information. This flow of information cannot be interrupted, as it could cost people large sums of money. That is why, BME decided to upgrade its IT information system to meet the needs of brokers and awarded the project to Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, which together with WAIT and Euroservices, representative of Display Evolution Klocktornet (DESIGN) in Spain, have developed a novel tailor-made solution for the digital signage system that powers all the monitors on the floor and meets the high demand for up-to-date information, offering different types of content on the state of the different markets at any given time.
System Structure
The implementation of the project was led by Euroservicios, a system integrator specializing in AV IT digital signage software and hardware, which chose AOpen's Digital Engine and DISE's software as the perfect hardware and software combination due to their high compatibility.
The system consists of 31 networked AOpen Digital Engine DE7000 media players powering 30 High-resolution monitors Mitsubishi MDT521S of 52 inches throughout the perimeter arch of the parquet, powered by DISE software for content management, which consists of real-time information on stock market values and associated marketing content. In the most prominent position of the iconic building is the central LED screen, Showing all the crucial information to stockbrokers.
Synchronised system
The entire installation is networked using the advanced "No Borders" system provided by DISE, that makes it possible to operate a complete system consisting of multiple monitors managed from a single point, even with a set of monitors with different and very specific resolutions to ensure complete integration.
This allows the system to be controlled as a set of display areas at specific resolutions and with full architectural integration and offering an exact overall resolution of the system 160.809 x 1.080 Pixels. The system allows a transparent integration of the user's predefined content with different television signals (DTT) using television signal capture systems and the integrated DTV tuner.
This makes it possible to control and integrate the programming of channels and TV programs that you want to show at a given time. Thanks to the small size of the Digital Engine, it may be hidden from view. The possibilities that this system offers at a creative and technical level are spectacular and allow BME to generate information and conditioned graphic elements that create a transition through the 30 monitors that comprise the perimeter of the parquet, respecting non-visible viewing areas (Spaces between monitors) and without deteriorating the beauty of the impressive historic building.
Real-time information
One of the most relevant aspects of the system is the obtaining of real-time information with update times of all the data presented in the complete system in less than 10 Seconds. Thanks to the fact that the market information systems are managed by Infobolsa (BME Group) and the "parsing" of said data, The system remains continuously updated, even between data transitions across different monitor areas.
Given the criticality of the system's real-time data presentation, Conditioning has been defined to detect when the data should be presented and what the behavior of the system should be in the event of an exception.
The system contains a new module that allows you to launch a "ticker" with all the most relevant information based on the opening and closing of the different markets, that works in the 30 Monitors. The synchronised system makes it possible for the securities in the ticker to change their price in real time during their journey through all the monitors installed throughout the trading floor.
The development allows the "ticker" to be synchronized over the 30 monitors and LED display and is updated in real-time by sending signals and information using UDP Multicast messages. The dimensions of this "ticker" cover the entire overall resolution of the system (160.809 x 1.080 Pixels) (H/V) and given the speed of movement of the same, values take longer than 5 minutes from when they appear on the first monitor until they disappear on the last monitor in the chain.
Complete solution includes monitors, media players and the software with a professional and neat appearance that ensures the system is reliable, since it is the key to the stock market.
Content Presentation
The concept is based on a single control station, to manage and control all hardware associated with the system. The control station sends information to the 31 Players, which are all connected by a network. This station can also be used for content creation. DISE supports a wide variety of formats: from images in all known formats to real-time web pages rendered in Full HD, through videos in all formats and texts obtained from different data sources.
One of the most interesting applications of the system is the ability to launch content or even entire channels on the fly with a click of the mouse or the press of any key, a widely used and versatile option for presentation events in which you want to show content, whether simple or very complex, at a certain point in time that cannot be foreseen by programming methods. In this way, for example, There is the possibility of launching a series of logos on the background of the channel at a certain time and having them make a transition through all the monitors on the parquet.
The system allows the seamless integration of user-predefined content with different television signals (DTT) using TV signal capture systems and the DTV tuner built into DISE. In this way, you can control and integrate the programming of the television channels as well as the relevant programs associated with them that you want to show at any given time. The integration of the television signal means being able to offer the behavior of the same signal as another element within the system, associating layers, behaviors, conditions and all the possibilities that the system enables.
