Advantech develops an ultra-thin open-frame monitor to make its assembly more flexible

Advantech's IDS-3115 Open Frame Monitor offers an ultra-slim design that supports a 15-inch TFT LCD display″ and 1024 X 768 Pixels, with an operating temperature range of -20/60 C, rear mounting and VESA and flexibility for different applications.

Advantech has developed the IDS-3115, a 15 XGA LED monitor″ open frame. The new IDS-3115 has a thin and light mechanical design that offers versatile options for industrial-grade display solutions. The open front bezel design allows for flexible and custom faceplates for easy re-engineering and is also ideal for any embedded application.. The IDS-3115 incorporates brackets integrated into the edges of the chassis that make installation easier. Versatile mounting methods include rear mounting and VESA (75 X 75 mm or 100 mm x 100).

To meet the different needs of customers, the IDS-3115 has two versions, the standard IDS-3115 and the IDS-3115 E. The standard IDS-3115 offers 400 nits of brilliance, and monitors with an operating temperature range of -20 / 60 °C with dual VGA and DVI signal interfaces. For its part, the IDS-3115 E offers a cheaper version that supports 250 brightness nits and an operating temperature range of 0/45 °C with a VGA signal interface.

Slim and light design for efficient installation

IDS-3115 Open Frame Monitor Incorporates Simple and Slim Mechanical Design into a Two-Piece Metal Frame Structure (intermediate frame and back cover). This slim design is only 32,8 mm thick (non-touch solution), while most competing models are above the 50 mm thick. So, the IDS-3115 offers up to a 20% space-saving that allows for more efficient installation in applications. On the other hand, due to thin mechanical design, the weight of the IDS-3115 is reduced to 2,6 kg (non-touch solution), while most models of the market competition are above 3,5 kg.

LED backlight and wide temperature support

For industrial grade displays, LED backlighting is the current trend in backlight design. The IDS-3115 comes with an industrial-grade panel and LED backlight that saves a 20-30% in power consumption and reaches higher brightness. The brightness of 400 nits and contrast ratio 700:1 together they provide better visibility than conventional monitors especially in an environment with greater ambient brightness. Wide viewing angle of 160° horizontal and 140° vertical provides a wider range viewing area for end users. In addition, the operating temperature range of -20 ° C to 60 °C of the IDS-3115 makes it suitable for outdoor or semi-outdoor applications that can operate in harsh environments.

Flexible mounting bracket: rear mount / VESA assembly

Designed with integrated brackets and VESA holes at the rear, IDS-3115 provides multiple mounting methods, including rear mount and VESA, that allows easy integration with any embedded application.
