University of Arizona Develops World's Largest Flexible Color OLED Display
The folks at the University of Arizona's Flexible Display Center have announced that they have successfully manufactured the world's largest flexible color OLED display prototype.. This is a screen of 7,4 inches created from TFT.
Flexible and tactile. Those are the most important features of the new color OLED display of 7,4 inches developed in the Flexible Display Center of the Arizona State University in collaboration with the U.S. Army's Army Research Labs using thin-film transistor technology (TFT). The new flexible color OLED display – the largest in the world- meets a fundamental objective set by the U.S. Department of Defense. UU. to advance the development of flexible OLED displays for use in thin and light devices, that can bend and suffer blows without breaking.
The most interesting thing about the screen is that it can be rolled up like a paper, and also has E-Ink Corp technology that allows you to perform all kinds of procedures from the same screen. Can be written, Save information and delete any data we no longer need. For now, The University of Arizona project will begin to be applied in the military field within 18 months.
Nick Colaneri, director of the Flexible Display Center, has pointed out: “This is a significant advancement for the manufacture of flexible display technology.. Provides a realistic path forward for the production of flexible, high-performance full-color OLED displays, accelerating the commercialization of technology in the process.”
