The British multinational Tesco has launched a virtual shopping experience at London's Gatwick Airport, where travelers, before your flight, they can purchase items through their smartphones in a virtual refrigerator.

Tesco has opened a new 'virtual store’ at the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport, in London, that allows travelers to make their purchases while waiting for their flight. The multinational retailer has installed 10 virtual fridges at london aerodrome offering a wide range of Tesco items for travellers to shop. Passengers at Gatwick North Terminal can scan up to 80 barcodes of the products offered to them in virtual refrigerators. When shoppers find an item they like, can place an order online by scanning the product with the iPhone or Android, that will be delivered to them at home when they return from their trip.

To carry out online purchases, passengers must download the Tesco app for their smartphones and, Then, register. "It's not about moving customers from one channel to another., but to increase new business", commented Ken Towle, Director of Internet Retail at Tesco. “It gives us a unique window into the future and the opportunity to try exciting new concepts. The virtual store mixes screens and clicks, and unites our love of browsing with the convenience of the Internet. It's an opportunity to show what we can do for the 30.000 people passing through Gatwick's North Terminal on a daily basis, many of whom have the need to fill their fridges when they get home, and we can't wait to hear what they think “.

If this pioneering initiative, to be developed between the 6 and the 19 August, succeeds, Tesco is likely to extend marketing to more active areas, as it has found that human trafficking increases in two moments, on the way to and from work.
