Indra will implement the emergency response center of the European Union
Indra, Spanish multinational information technology company, will launch the future Emergency Response Center (ERC) of the Directorate General of Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Commission, whose function will be to coordinate the deployment of humanitarian aid and the EU's civil protection actions anywhere on the planet.
The technological multinational Indra will be responsible for launching the future Emergency Response Center (ERC) of the General Directorate of Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG-ECHO) of the European Commission. The center will be ready to enter service in mid- 2013 and will be located in Brussels.
The ERC replaces and expands the current Information and Monitoring Center (MIC) as an operational and coordination center for the resources of the different States assigned to the so-called European Civil Protection Mechanism. This Mechanism allows the EU to respond to natural disasters, acts of terrorism and technological accidents, radiological or environmental events that take place anywhere on the planet, coordinating the available resources of each associated State. They are currently part of this Mechanism 32 States (27 EU member states, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Croatia and the Republic of Macedonia).
The new center will have the latest advances in coordination tools, multi-media display and video and audio management. Its implementation will allow establishing a stronger link between the civil protection and humanitarian aid actors of the European Commission and the Member States..
This project promotes Indra's position as a reference in the implementation of advanced operational coordination centers for public and private security. The company is also positioned as a reference technological partner of European Institutions.
