RIU Hotels & Resorts transforms its DPC communications infrastructure with Alcatel-Lucent

The Spanish hotel chain RIU Hotels & Resorts has entrusted the communications infrastructure of its data center in Alcatel-Lucent solutions, integrated by your Premium business partner, bcSystems.

With the aim of improving the experience of its customers with more secure and effective communication applications and services, the Spanish hotel chain RIU Hotels & Resorts has decided to transform the communications infrastructure of its CPD with the solutions of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, composed of bcSystems.

The new communications network implemented in the Riu Hotels data centre & Resorts is based on Alcatel-Lucent's OmniSwitch 10K solution, with which the computer services of the hotel chain have also been improved to offer applications and services to employees and customers with greater guarantees of security and availability.

This hotel chain has completed a process of virtualization of all its services, with improvements in your data center, such as using storage over IP, linked to high availability and management, Virtual machine management and performance. This process is based on replacing the network core with a data center.

The transformation of its communications infrastructure will also facilitate the management of RIU Hotels' business & Resorts, composed by 107 establishments distributed in sixteen countries in Europe, Africa and America.

For Miguel Reynés, CIO of RIU Hotels & Resorts, one of the reasons for adopting the Alcatel-Lucent solution has been "the easy activation of the Lossless Ethernet protocol, that allows us transmissions in IP transport without packet losses and the possibility of classifying virtual machines from the chassis itself, applying to each of them its special quality of service; as well as its design to protect the investment, thinking about future needs".

For its part, Jean-Clovis Pichon, director general para España y Portugal de Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, He has shown his satisfaction for this project "and that our technology is perfectly suited to the demanding requirements of interfaces, scalability, speed and quality of a business like the hotel".
