Sennheiser performs audio project for exhibition dedicated to David Bowie in Toronto
The Art Gallery in Ontario will be the next destination of the exhibition dedicated to David Bowie, following the one held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Sennheiser will continue to be the supplier of the audio project.
The exhibition dedicated to the life and work of singer David Bowie continues his tour. Following success at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London he is now at the Art Gallery in Ontario (Canada), where a whole immersive experience is offered supported by Sennheiser's audio installation based on its guidePort system and a 3D immersive environment.
The audio project made by Sennheiser, whose products are distributed in Spain by Magnetron, at the Art Gallery of Ontario highlights the great importance of sound in digital signage installations. After the exhibition held at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&to) London, exhibition dedicated to singer David Bowie continues its tour at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AUG) of Canada where it will be open from the 25 September to 27 November 2013.
At this stop, just like he did in London, Sennheiser will be in charge of offering an immersive sound experience to visitors, using the guidePort wireless visitor information system and developing a 3D sound installation.
GuidePort allows you to play text recordings by combining them with multimedia presentations in playback, as if it were a public address system, and incorporate additional live information. It even allows to collect statistical data on how visitors interact with the exhibition and determine the level of acceptance of the exhibits., which can be used to make a more complete statistical evaluation.
The experience carried out, for five months, at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&to) of London has had a great reception, more than 300.000 people visited the first international retrospective of David Bowie's work in music, fashion, art, theatre and cinema. An exhibition in which more than 300 Bowie personal archive objects, including the original costumes, handwritten letters, and album and photo covers. The exhibition celebrates 50 Bowie's career years.
As we already explained in Digital AV Magazine, This exhibition was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London with a large videowall seven meters high whose contents were managed by the Dataton Watchout software.
A highlight of the experience offered to the visitor are the two 3D surround sound simulations that evoke the sound and feel of a live concert.. "These are two multichannel musical experiences.. One is performed around a huge screen on which videos with live concerts of the singer are shown.. Another offers a collage with Bowie songs whose arrangements have been made by Tony Visconti", explains Gregor Zielinsky, International Recording Applications Manager de Sennheiser. Audio is played back through hidden Neumann speakers.
guidePort Information System
In addition to 3D installations, Sennheiser has also equipped the Art Gallery of Ontario (AUG) of Canada with the guidePort information system that will provide visitors with the soundtrack, music and video sound throughout the tour, taking them on a journey through Bowie's music, art and fashion. The system automatically plays the audio when the visitor approaches an exhibition, allowing them to enjoy an individual tour of the exhibition in any order and pace.
“In this exhibition dedicated to David Bowie, the universe of music is recreated, the fashion and art that this artist has created. With its innovative architecture, the Art Gallery of Ontario is a perfect place to organize it, providing an ideal framework for this multimedia retrospective, where everyone can relive or discover Bowie”, comments Daniel Sennheiser, CEO of the Sennheiser Group.
