Extron Electronics' VNC-325 codec is a solution that enables the sending of SD and HD video over IP networks with low delay and high quality.

Extron VNC-325

Extron Electronics has introduced the 3G-SDI codec over IP, VNC 325 belonging to the VN-Matrix series. This equipment streams SDI video, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI and embedded audio over IP networks to meet low-delay requirements and transport production-quality SD and HD video over enterprise networks.

The VNC-325 supports embedded audio streaming that passes through four channels of synchronized audio, No losses, through auxiliary data blocks (ANC). Up to four blocks of ANC data can be streamed with video from 16 Audio Channels. Alternatively, Two channels of audio can be streamed in stereo mode providing mono, Stereo or surround sound 5.1 in applications that require the use of lower bandwidth. Video can also be streamed without audio.

Two channels of audio can be streamed with video in low-bandwidth applications or up to 16 audio channels can be listened to in auxiliaries.

The VNC-325 codec uses the Extron Pure3 codec, Wave-based compression technology that exceeds many of the operating characteristics of standards-based compression systems, displaying visible lossless images with low latency and high immunity against network errors. Offers selectable encoding and decoding functions and genlock video decoding from an external SDI reference. The VNC-325's Pure3 codec can deliver visually lossless image quality.

The Extron VNC-325 also supports synchronized decoding of audio and video streams across multiple set-top boxes while maintaining genlock and framelock even with packet loss. This capability can be important for video from cameras or sensors with more than one output signal, applications that use multiple cameras or very high-resolution material made up of multiple high-resolution signals.

This equipment is ideal for quality applications, such as live video streaming across a campus, Production Collaboration, Studio-by-Studio Multimedia Exchange and Original Video Source Contribution.

“We have designed the VNC-325 with a unique combination of high quality, low delay and flexible bitrate management features to ensure an ideal solution for SDI signal transmission. Ideal for the most demanding AV applications, such as production collaboration, Studio-by-Studio Media Sharing and Live Video Feed Contribution”, comments Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Extron.
