Vizrt has collaborated with Lockheed Martin to develop a solution that allows large volumes of data to be visualized on an interactive platform called the Multi-Touch Executive Dashboard (MED). To graphically visualize big data, MED combines real-time asset management software, Pixel Perceptive displays Microsoft, Vizrt Viz Artist for 3D Modeling, animation and graphics creation and Viz Engine for real-time visualization of 3D graphics and rendering in resolutions up to 4K.

The first tool that has been developed to visualize interactive big data is MED-E (Multi-Touch Executive Dashboard for Energy) by Lockheed Martin, Designed to graphically illustrate large volumes of information relating to the state of energy resources, Distribution and supply.

WindOptimizer is a cloud-based MED-E suite that provides real-time sensor information, including forecasting weather and wind energy supplies, so wind farms, Utilities and other energy companies can realize more cost-effective management of wind resources.

The I teams + D in Europe and the United States at Vizrt worked closely with Lockheed Martin to design a system that met a high standard of quality in data visualization, while being very flexible in its application. This allows the product to be used in a wide range of industries and configured to suit each need.

A single image with differentiated layers

“In the development of the MED-E platform, we've pushed the boundaries of Viz Artist and Viz Engine as a powerful data collector and interactive visualization platform. We are taking data from different sources to offer all the information in real time in a single image that shows all the differentiated layers.", explains Petter Ole Jakobsen, CTO of Vizrt, based in Bergen, Norway.

The interface of the MED platform allows multiple users to select the icons that bring multiple graphics and visual elements that can be manipulated and interacted with the Pixel Perceptive LCD screen. 82 Inch.

Viz Artist was chosen for use on MED and MED-E display platforms, since its environment of 64 Bits features advanced data collection tools and plugins. Plugins allow designers to create interactive elements such as click buttons or support buttons for touch screens. And, as a powerful rendering engine, Viz Engine is used in graphics and videos for applications that require high fidelity, Low latency and interactivity.

“The MED platform can be adapted to a wide range of vertical markets such as medical imaging, Military Defense, Energy Exploration, Geo-intelligence, information systems/business intelligence and in analytics in the supply chain analytics", comments Matt Kier, Lockheed Martin Main Project Engineer.

“This collaboration with Lockheed Martin is incredibly exciting”, Jakobsen added. “Together we are developing a solution to one of today's most complex problems, the one of the capture, Harnessing and managing large volumes of data with a very user-friendly, interactive, Rich graphics 3D data visualization platform”.
