Robe at Gloria Estefan's concert

Roto's Pointe and Robin 600E Spot lights have been used in the show offered by Latin singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan at the Royal Albert Hall Theatre (RAH) of London last October. A show that is part of the tour he is doing in the United Kingdom to promote his new album The Standards.

Lighting designer Richard Rhys Thomas of London's RAH Theatre created the lights for Gloria Estefan's show, in which he used eight Steal Pointe and four moving lights Robe Robin 600E Spot, together with different systems belonging to the extensive assembly of the room. The rental company TSL Lighting, based in South East, supplied the show's additional lighting systems which included all Robe fixtures.

This was the second time designer Richard Rhys had used Pointe equipment. (The first time was for a classical music event). "I wanted something different from a traditional light profile or beam and since the Pointe has both it was a good solution", Explains. Pointe equipment was mounted towards the back of the scene on several different levels and used to create general aerial effects and to fill the large upper void in the room.. "I found that there was a lot of room to create subtle effects for the slower numbers as well as looks with more direct beams for the hits and the sections with more rhythm of the show", Said. The compact size of the devices meant that they could be hidden among the band members almost without being noticed..

The Robin 600E Spot was used to illuminate the famous RAH organ with colors and give it a kind of texture treatment with balloons., creating a dynamic backdrop for the stage that emphasized the location and special atmosphere of London's most iconic concert hall.

TSL Lighting was among the first rental companies in the UK to invest in Pointe, and now owns 26, the most recent of which came directly from the Plasa exhibition stand last October." Our company has been investing in Robe since 2010.", explains managing director Sam Tamplin, "and with Robe as our flagship moving light brand., We now own a considerable amount of their devices. Our projects range from providing and designing corporate shows to packages for concert tours and theatrical productions.. A multi-purpose device like the Pointe is perfect for us.".
