Suitable Technologies develops a store concept where its telepresence robots are the dependents
The store that Suitable Technologies has opened in Palo Alto is staffed by staff who are not physically in the store. This task is taken care of by its BeamPro telepresence robots.
The American robotics company Suitable Technologies has opened a store in Silicon Valley (Palo Alto) that marks a new concept in retail businesses, since the establishment lacks "human staff" to serve customers. Commercial ones have been replaced by BeamPro telepresence robots.
It is a strategy of the company that uses its developments so that they sell themselves. It could be said that the entire store is a demo of the products that are marketed there and that use the Beam Smart Presence System technology.
BeamPro allows users to interact with remote locations through high-quality audio and video, with freedom to move around any space. A telepresence robot that enables instant collaboration thousands of miles away.
These teams are led by human personnel who are in different locations and are tracked through GPS. This robot has two dual-band radios or an optional 4G card.
As security measures, BeamPro uses industry-standard technologies such as TLS/SSL, AES-256, and HMAC-SHA1. In addition, encrypts all communication that travels through the system to ensure that calls are kept private and secure.
The BeamPro solution is comprised of three components: the Smart Presence Device (SPD), A dock station and client software. The SPD is in charge of ensuring that the natural person can interact with people through their screen, while in the dock station there is the battery that powers the robot and provides it with an autonomy of 8 hours of active use and 24 hours in standby mode.
BeamPro incorporates two wide-angle cameras, a matrix of 6 microphones that reduce echo and background noise, a powerful speaker and a high-quality LCD screen 17 inches in format 4:3.
The core of BeamPro is its client software that allows you to set the audio and video settings and provide the interface from which it is operated. It is compatible with Windows 7 and 8 and Mac OS X 10.6+.
