Sony projectors offer an immersive underwater experience at Georgia Aquarium
The Georgia Aquarium facilities have replaced their traditional projectors with 10 Sony VPL-FHZ55 equipment, reducing maintenance requirements and increasing image quality.
The Georgia Aquarium is considered the largest in the world. In their 30.000 m³ of salt and fresh water live more than 120.000 animals of 500 Different species. In these impressive facilities, inaugurated in 2005, Sony's projection technology is playing a key role in creating an immersive experience for the more than three million visitors who come each year.
The 3LCD model Sony VPL-FHZ55 4.000 lumens and resolution WUXGA was the option chosen by the Georgia Aquarium to replace the fleet of traditional projectors that were in these facilities, reducing maintenance needs and increasing image quality.
Color, contrast and image clarity of the laser projector VPL-FHZ55 has made it possible for visitors to develop their creativity and enjoy the attractions, including underwater video recordings of coral and sea otters, plus a curtain of mist that projects onto the back to create the illusion of an underwater kelp forest.
Since last year, VPL-FHZ55 laser projectors have been in uninterrupted use until 13 hours a day during the times when there was more influx of public in the attractions.
"We had high expectations of Sony laser projectors., and they have overcome them all. We do not perform maintenance during opening hours to the public, So staff members have one of the most difficult tasks which is to avoid any downtime of the system. With the VPL-FHZ55 we have a revolutionary solution everywhere. This makes our job easier and reduces costs while still offering the public the necessary wow factor.", explains Ryan Sheorn, audiovisual manager of the Georgia Aquarium.
