Coruña Smart City completes its first phase of implementation of the project led by Indra
The urban platform of Coruña Smart City, the first project in Spain of integral and transversal management of a city through technology, is already installed and operational in the CPD of the City Council of this Galician city, With this, the first phase of the project is finalized, started in June 2013, by the joint venture led by Indra and integrated by Altia, Ilux and the R operator.
The Data Center (Cpd) of the City Council of La Coruña, in which the urban platform of Coruña Smart City is already operational, has begun to receive data from three of the fourteen pilots contemplated by the project: Multi-channel events, Guided tours and e-government system.
This culminates the first phase of the first project in Spain of integral and transversal management of a city through technology, that the consortium led by Indra, consisting of Altia, Ilux and the operator R, started in mid- 2013.
Among the first services that citizens already have at their disposal are the mobile apps of cultural and leisure agenda of the city and the guided tour with augmented reality. As a result,, The people of A Coruña will be able to, For example, Receive information about shows directly on your mobile based on your preferences and buy tickets; Design personalized itineraries and share them, as well as receiving messages from the application itself when they are near a geolocated site.
Also available is the headquarters Electronics of the Consistory of A Coruña, that is part of the pilot of electronic administration, and that starts with the first twelve procedures. All these services will be accessible through the Coruña Smart City portal, where the citizen is also offered useful information, Dynamic and in real time on the nearest gas stations and the price of fuels, the stations of Bicicoruña or the state of traffic and the works of the city, among others.
This initial catalog of services is completed with the Open Data portal, which includes information freely accessible and usable by all citizens, with more than 130 Data sources of various types, so that entrepreneurs can make use of them for the development of new applications and innovative services.
All this is just part of the smart city project that will be completed over the coming weeks with new services and applications, that in parallel will be crossed with the information provided by the pilots to have a comprehensive view of the city.
'Integrative brain'
The Coruña Smart City platform is based on SOFIA2, the Internet of Things solution (Iot) of Indra with big data and cloud capabilities that allow you to easily integrate and share information from different systems, mobile devices or social networks.
It is a large management center or 'integrating brain' that facilitates communication between the different services and solutions that make up the city's ecosystem (mobility, water, energy, environment, Leisure and tourism, Etc.) to provide a complete view of the activity. It also includes analysis tools to predict what are the behaviors of the city in relation to the use of services to adapt them better and proactively to real needs..
In practice, There will be smart cameras to monitor traffic, able to foresee situations that help make better decisions to facilitate mobility; The automatic irrigation of municipal gardens will work according to needs and not by times. Information will also be offered to the citizen so that he knows, Before leaving home, What is the state of the city's car parks and can plan your routes, o control and take measures to avoid increasing noise levels in spaces where their impact could be very negative (Proximity of hospitals, colleges, Parks,...).
On the other hand, During the first phase of the project, the design has also been carried out., Development and installation in several parks and public buildings of the city of the first gateways to connect sensors and other elements of information collection in the city with the urban platform, via R's high-speed fiber optic network.
Pilots in the execution phase
Another of the pilot projects that is in the execution phase is the pilot of remote management of meters. The City Council of La Coruña began at the beginning of last January the installation of smart meters, that will be carried out in more than a thousand homes and premises in the city so that water consumption can be controlled at all times and better plan needs.
The rest of the pilots underway that will be integrated into the urban platform are: Smart parking; Water Quality and Early Warning System; Remote management of supply networks; Energy efficiency in municipal buildings; Smart irrigation; Air Quality and Noise System; energy improvement of the A Telva water treatment plant; Traffic optimization; interaction with the citizen and the BIO project.
The Coruña Smart City project, initiative of the City Council of La Coruña and Emalcsa as an applicant, obtained co-financing of a 80% of the ERDF funds, for a total of 11,5 millions of euros, It was designed in two phases: the first, awarded in April 2013 to the joint venture formed by Indra, Altia, Ilux, Indra and R, consisted of the design and implementation of the technological platform, 'The brain' of the city. The second, to be developed this year, It contemplates the development of fourteen pilots in different areas, that will be progressively connected to this platform.
Urban Interoperability Platform (UOIP)
The SmartCity platform is based on components of Indra's Atenea platform and contributions from UTE partners
- Internet of Things Platform (Iot) called Sofia2, which is the integrating center of information that allows you to integrate information from multiple data sources (Sensor networks, Information Systems, Internet,...) and offer a common processing infrastructure on this data, Incorporation of value and advanced support so that third parties can develop services on the processed data, available openly following an OpenData schema.
- State-of-the-art sensor and actuator platforms to measure a wide range of parameters in the urban environment, With very low power consumption and advanced features beyond monitoring (High-precision positioning, Tracking of people and objects,...).
- Integrated Urban Management System (U-GIS) Smart Coruña with WOA approach (Web Oriented Architecture) and cloud technologies, in combination with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), 3D visualization and augmented reality techniques (Ra), that allows you to work with a large number of variables and data, from diverse sources, in real time.
