FBT and Sennheiser systems to deliver the best sound quality in churches
Six passive columns, two passive boxes and FBT amplifiers, in combination with Sennheiser microphones make up the project carried out in the church of La Purificación de Almendralejo, in the province of Badajoz, to deliver clear sound, of quality and uniform.
Places of worship often have serious technical challenges in terms of distribution and sound quality and intelligibility of the word to communicate with their parishioners., in many cases because they are historic buildings that, throughout its extensive construction, combine different architectural styles (Gothic, plateresque, Roman, Renaissance, plateresque…); materials that prevent sound distribution or reverberate, as well as spaces structured in naves with apses, Vaults, Etc.
All this makes the installation of a sound system not only a technical challenge, but that respect for the construction and its aesthetics also becomes a challenge. An example of this has been the project carried out in the church of La Purificación de Almendralejo (Badajoz), one of the most visited historical enclaves in this town of Paca, by the local distributor Almendralejo Sound.
With the aim of offering optimal sound quality throughout the perimeter of the church, this distributor chose to rely on the companies' professional audio systems FTB and Sennheiser (represented exclusively in Spain and Portugal by Magnetron).
For this project, six passive columns of the Vertus CLA model have been installed 604 of FTB in white, to preserve the aesthetics of the church and thus distribute the sound evenly through each of the corners of it.
At the back of this place of worship, two FBT J passive boxes have been located 5, also in white, which allows, before a massive influx of people, the sound pressure level is adequate for this area furthest from the high altar. The installation, online 100 V, features multi-channel power stages and FBT amplifiers.
In the microphone environment, the option has been the MZH flexo set 3040 plus the ME cannon capsule 36, both from the German firm Sennheiser, to guarantee a perfect collection of sound from any point of the main altar or from the lectern, to hear the word intelligibly from anywhere.
The great height of the church, its dimensions and the sound reverberations that occur in it, caused naturally by the vaults, have not been a problem for the dmm sound processor 8008 ftb, one of the key pieces of the audio installation, since each and every one of the signals coming from each of the microphones is processed correctly to then adjust the acoustic parameters and give the signal delays to each of the acoustic columns distributed throughout its perimeter.
