Cisco Connect 2015 brought together more than 2.000 IT professionals
Reducing complexity and driving innovation in the new era of the Internet of Everything was the main theme of this seventh edition of Cisco Connect 2015.
The seventh edition of the annual event culm Connect Met the Past 7 at the Kinépolis in Madrid to more than 2.000 Professional, including CIOs, Business Managers, Financial, Marketing & Commercial.
With the slogan "The Digital Transformation" and with the participation of 36 Cisco Allies & Channel Partners, with Intel as an Iridum sponsor, The event focused on analysing the latest technological and business solutions designed for companies and administrations to accelerate their digital transformation.
"Digitalization, powered by the Internet of Everything (IoE), creates enormous opportunities for progress for countries, Business and society. But to unlock the value of connections, you need to adopt a new IT model that can reduce complexity and drive innovation, And that's what we showed at the event.", explains José Manuel Petisco, CEO of Cisco Spain.
Norberto Mateos, Intel General Manager for the Southern Europe Region, highlighted during his presentation "Driving the Digital Economy" how computing capacity, The intelligence and management of state-of-the-art processors facilitates the reinvention of industries by optimizing the orchestration and allocation of technological resources and data analytics.
For its part, Eugenia Corrales, Vice President of Technology Development at Cisco, commented on how mobility, The Hybrid Cloud, Automating infrastructure and application management, Big Data and security converge in the new Fast IT model that allows faster innovation.
IoE in Transport
Attendees also saw the advantages of the IoE live in a demo on connected transport by Petisco and Antonio Conde, Director of Collaboration at Cisco Spain.
It showed how sensors installed on a miniature bus provide information autonomously and in real time about the vehicle's geolocation (Route traveled, Medium speed, Incidents...), Your Status (Tire Pressure, oil, Fuel consumption...) or traffic, in addition to incorporating video screens with multiple applications such as ticket payment using QR codes or information of interest.
This Cisco technology, together with Davra Networks software, It allows bus fleet managers to make real-time decisions to optimize the route or historically analyze the status of vehicles, improving their predictive maintenance.
Parallel presentations
Parallel lectures were given by BT, Citrix, EMC, IBM, NetApp, Red Hat and Vodafone, in addition to having the participation of Telefónica. In turn, were carried out 30 Continuous technical demonstrations, 19 led by Cisco and the rest by Acuntia, Aryse, Atos, Azlan-Tech Data, Comstor, F5, Iecisa, Ingram Micro, IPM & Simplivity.
Among Cisco's demos, the digital city and connected factory demos stood out, the unification of data center management and infrastructure using Cisco APIC, Collaboration solutions that facilitate instant meetings and absolute mobility, control of the entire network from the Cloud using Cisco Meraki, the combination of public and private clouds with Cisco Intercloud Fabric or advanced malware protection with Cisco AMP and Threat Grid.
Participating Cisco partners showcased their latest solutions and services on the show floor, where, in addition to those mentioned above, Av@anza, Avnet, Colt, CommScope, Econocom, Global Knowledge, IEAISA, Indra, Logicalis, Watch Telecommunications, Nexica, Plantronics, Purestorage, SCC, Tecnocom, Veeam, Voicelan and VMware; and the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers also collaborated (COIT) and the Hotel Technology Institute (ITH).
For its part, The business program was divided into three panels: Fast IT, that looked at the new IT model to reduce complexity; Innovation Today, that addressed the need to innovate in products, Services & Experiences; and Internet of Everything, that showed how to turn data into business value through analytics.
