Christie and SIA show Argentina's cultural heritage in an immersive 4D projection
The star of Sensorium, stand designed by SIA Interactive in Tecnópolis, was a nine-meter diameter 4D projection dome that used six Christie DHD800 projectors to display inside, in 360 Degrees, a video with images of tourist destinations and heritage in Argentina.
The 1DLP projectors of Christie have had a starring role in Sensorium, the stand designed by the company SIA Interactive that the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina deployed in Technopolis, the science sample, technology, industry and art, based in Buenos Aires, largest in Latin America.
The star of Sensorium was a nine-meter-diameter 4D projection dome that used six Christie DHD800 projectors to display inside., in 360 Degrees, a video of 10 minutes with images of different tourist destinations and heritages located in Argentina. A pioneering projection that managed to immerse visitors in a total immersion of images.
"We needed reliable equipment that was flawlessly executed and could operate with minimal maintenance., since Tecnópolis works for four months a year without interruptions. We trust Christie and after performing the installation and using the projectors, we found that we had not made a mistake", notes Adrian Simonovich, CEO of SIA Interactive.
DHD800s have a resolution (1920×1080) with 8.000 ANSI lumens and belong to Christie's line of 1DLP projectors, ideal equipment for fixed installations and live events.
The film played in the dome over a nine-meter-diameter semisphere was shot with a camera. Point Grey Ladybug and required a great post-production work that took more than six months to adapt it to the particular characteristics of projection in a dome of 360 Degrees.
Different sensors, animations and effects, like wind, rain, aromas and snow, were integrated into the film, thus completing the 4D experience that allowed attendees to feel the snow falling in the landscapes of Patagonia or the wind on the shore of the Argentine Sea, getting wet when passing through the Iguazu Falls or smelling the aromas of the fields.
Playback was performed using a Delta Media Server of 7th Sense, also using digi-park software developed by SIA Interactive, designed for digital amusement parks.
"Attendees were amazed at the overall quality of the dome. The image of the projectors was warm and sharp, and the result was a happy customer and more than 240.000 surprised attendees", says Adrian Simonovich.
"From the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina we have invited the public to discover the landscapes of our country that have been declared by Unesco as World Heritage. Through a 4D tour, visitors have put all their senses to play in an experience that allowed them to feel the dew that the Iguazu Falls give away, the roar of ice on the Perito Moreno glacier or the majesty of the southern right whale and the marine fauna of Península Valdés, among many other wonders of our country", comments Oscar Gabriel Suárez, National Director of Tourism Promotion of Argentina.
Sensorium also included other experiences developed by SIA Interactive, as interactive tables with games, virtual reality stations, projected semispheres that detected motion, holograms and fingerprint readers, among others.
This latest edition of Tecnópolis, which occupied more than 50 Hectares, was visited by 4.700.000 people and included an aquarium, a museum of the sea and another of energy, a theme park, a space of dinosaurs, an area of didactic video games, a place dedicated to agriculture and an area where mathematical games were made.
