The III International Festival of Mapping of Girona opens the call for its competition

On the occasion of the third edition of this festival, that will take place in the 22 to the 24 July 2016 In this Catalan city, also begins the call for the International Mapping Competition, whose works can be submitted until next 28 April, and that this year has landscapes as a theme.

innovation, Culture and audiovisual arts will come together again in the edition 2016 of the International Mapping Festival of Girona (Girona – FIMG), of the 22 to the 24 next July, in which the III International Mapping Competition will also be held, which this year has a new category, Eleven awards valued at more than 28.000 euros and three popular voting prizes.

The call for entries, Presentation of works and bases of this contest, through the FIGM website, It will be open until next time 28 April, And this year's theme will be landscapes.

During the three days of this free and open festival, the city of Girona will become the international benchmark of mapping with the aim of bringing together artists and professionals in the sector to show and disseminate this discipline.

FIMG 2016 maintains the same structure as in the last edition, with the celebration of the aforementioned third edition of the International Mapping Competition, with projections of the finalist artistic proposals in some of the most representative facades of the city, and II International Congress of Mapping, A space for dialogue and reflection dedicated to professionals, Artists and students of the sector.

New category

The III International Mapping Competition incorporates a new category, Called Instant, intended for the creation of a still image by any technique (drawing, photography, 2D, 3D,...) for any of the facades to contest and open to all citizens of the province of Girona of any age.

specifically, The call has five categories: professional, Aimed at artists and visual arts professionals, Musical and plastic arts, not exclusively mapping; amateur, For anyone who wants to make the first foray into the world of mapping; Micromapping, intended for small indoor spaces; Educational, Oriented to schools and institutes of Girona, and the new instant, still image.

The spaces of the contest will be the façade of the Casa Pastors in professional category; the façade of the Pont d'en Gómez building in amateur category; that of the Les Àligues building (Sant Domènec) in educational category and different spaces for the micromapping category.

Each category has two awards, that go from the 11.000 euros of the first in professional category up to 400 Euros Second prize in educational category, to be evaluated and awarded by an international jury. In addition, The public will award three awards: Audience façade award; Audience micromapping and instant award.
