DigaliX carries out a pilot project for the elderly and the possibilities provided by its interactive table
The Mirador de Mataró, belonging to VL Group, has been the residence chosen to install the manufacturer's XTable interactive table for a month so that the elderly can learn the possibilities of the Internet as a means to bring them closer to their families and the world.
The interactive table of DigaliX is the protagonist of the pilot project that the El Mirador de Mataró residence for the elderly (Barcelona) It will be held for a month and through fourteen different workshops so that its residents learn to use the possibilities of this system as a tool for communication and consultation and their interests.
One of the objectives of this project, for both DigaliX and VL Group, which manages residential and day centres for the elderly and people with disabilities, is to observe the advantages that the use of technology can generate in this population profile, based on some concrete premises.
These include cognitive and manual work through the use of interactive games in order to exercise aspects such as memory, reading and writing and some motor skills in this type of population, as well as promoting and enhancing their hobbies (music or cinema, For example) with the knowledge of channels such as YouTube or the use of browsers, and without forgetting the social and relational aspect with a multi-user device that allows collaborative work.
The features of the DigaliX XTable interactive table make it easy to navigate in the face of potential age-related physical limitations, Turning an everyday piece of furniture in any environment into a collaborative device, creative and tailored to users and their abilities.
The results of the pilot test will be presented during the second edition of the ICT Conference on Primary Care, organized by the Association of Family and Community Nursing of Catalonia (AIFICC) in Mataró next 27 October.
