Ideum develops an interactive and sensory experience to enjoy wine tasting
Visitors who come to the room to try the wines have a multi-touch table with the ability to identify the wine that contains the glass when it is placed on the surface of it.
Ideum, in collaboration with JCB by Jean-Charles Boisset, has developed an interactive way of tasting wines through visual solutions. For this he has installed in the JCB Tasting Salon of Yountville (California) a multi-touch digital table that digitally identifies when a glass is placed on its surface and guides visitors in their tasting.
The tasting is done with five different wines and when the glass is located on the surface of the table, visitors see a presentation about it and different informative data. It is an experience that lasts approximately one hour.
“Our vision has always been to transcend the experience of traditional wine and give a new dimension to the world of wine. We partnered with Ideum to create the first truly interactive wine tasting, that I transfer to the sensory world", comment jean-charles boisset.
The touch table developed by Ideum uses a custom-made software and hardware system to identify each wine. "This is a unique sensory experience developed especially for JCB", explains Jim Spadaccini, Creative Director and Founder de Ideum.
The interactive application developed for this touch table in the JCB tasting room by Ideum uses printed 3D 'coasters' that have capacitive qualities that act as reference markers and allow the software to identify each individual wine.
Ideum partnered with Graphene 3D to incorporate the materials that were used to produce the tangible markers. Thanks to the 3D printing filaments of this firm when the glass of wine is placed on the touch table you can digitally identify the wine and launch or a cinematographic presentation of the wine, or give access to personalized information.
The software system works with an Ideum 4K UHD Platform Touch Table computer 55 inches using touch technology 3M and has been customized to suit the room where it was to be located.
