The electronic music festival Mutek designs its lighting with Elation

Recently held in Mexico City, this event that emerged seventeen years ago in Montreal (Canada) has had the systems of this manufacturer to illuminate some of its ten scenic spaces.

Mutek It is a festival of digital creativity and electronic music that celebrated its first edition in the year 2000 in the Canadian city of Montreal, and currently has annual events in Mexico City, Chile, Argentina and also in Barcelona, where the 9 to the 11 next March in various venues of the Catalan capital.

La reciente edición celebrada en la capital de México contó con diez espacios repartidos por la ciudad y las actuaciones de Richie Hawtin, u-Ziq y The Field, among others. César Coronado ha sido el director técnico y responsable del diseño de iluminación, que ha contado con las empresas Serpro Producciones de Monterrey y Power Led de México DF como suministradores del equipamiento de iluminación, que se basa en aparatos de Elation Professional (que en España comercializa visualsvisual).

specifically, para este diseño se han utilizado 154 aparatos de este fabricante, de las que ochenta unidades son del modelo Cuepix Panel que se han distribuido en tres espacios: las salas Play 1, Play 2 y la B del Foto Museo. “La mayoría de estos recintos tienen bastantes columnas y techos no demasiado altos. That's why we have used a device, as Cuelix Panel, that could be placed in front of the columns, forming light towers to hide these architectural elements, while providing spectacular visual effects", explains Coronado.

For the main space of Mutek Mexico -room A of the Photo Museum- it has been decided to deploy sixty Led arrays with continuous 360° rotation in Pan and Tilt of the ACL model 360 Matrix, placed at two heights on the sides of the stage, thus flanking the different artists who passed through this stage.

In Play Rooms 1 and Play 2 fourteen ACL bars have also been arranged 360 Bar, with continuous 360-degree rotation in Pan and Tilt. "These two spaces have had a stage with the sides of it accessible to the public, next to the front," Coronado points out. For the lighting design we have sought that each side of the stage had the same devices, and ACL models 360 Bar have been installed on the floor to mark them and thus create spectacular walls of light".
