The Cathedral of Girona hosts an immersive show of light and music by Xavi Bové
The visual artist will use for this concert of light and music in real time sixty light projectors, distributed inside and outside the ship, with a light control system developed by the creative studio Onionlab, with memories already programmed, Audio scenes and dynamic effects, as well as live variations to the rhythm of the conductor.
'Transfiguració de la nau' is the name of the unique show of light and music in real time, created by visual artist Xavi Bové, that can be seen for free inside the Cathedral of Girona (Girona) from next Friday 21 From July to Sunday 23, as part of the commemorative events that Girona City Council has organized on the occasion of the 600 Anniversary of the Gothic nave of the temple.
This show will transform the interior of the Gothic nave of the temple through a complex light choreography and music created for the occasion and performed by an orchestra of ten musicians, which will feature four violins, two violas and two cellos; a piano and the cathedral organ, with the aim of creating an immersive show in the spectator.
Xavi Bové has designed this synchrony between light and music of 'Transfiguració de la nau' in four movements: introspection, research, Transfiguration and fulfillment, "with contemporary minimalist style music, with a mix of moments of intimacy and grandeur, with the aim of creating a constant movement and a hypnotic effect", as described by its organizers.
Light choreography
The creative studio Onionlab has developed a complex real-time light control system that, according to the guidelines of Xavi Bové, modulate different sensations throughout the show. This lighting system will also highlight different architectural details of the temple., Setting up a delicate choreography of lights.
The show will also be visible from outside the temple., through the rose window of the Gothic façade and from the tower area, to extend it to the whole city.
For this, a 3D environment management software is used., combined with an audiovisual control program and plug-ins programmed specifically for this project, with the installation of sixty light projectors, "individually controlled by a system which, on the one hand, A phase of pre-programmed memories will follow, and, on the other, will be audioreactive". In addition, A specialist will perform live variations to the rhythm of the conductor.
The show is free, but it is necessary to make the previous reservation. Tickets for Friday 21 July, when the music will be live, are sold out. Saturday 22 and on Sunday 23 The music will be recorded, with four passes each day (at 21:30H; 22:15; 23:00 and 23:45H).
