The digital work 'Numina', with Christie's projection technology, achieves the Lumen Prize 2017
Created by artist Zarah Hussain for the Barbican Centre, this digital sculpture is powered by two Christie HS Series laser phosphor projectors, managed with Pandoras Box, who has now been recognized with this important award in the Category of Popular Choice.
Located in the lobby of London's cultural center Barbican Centre, the 'Numina' sculpture is a large hexagonal grid illuminated by projection mapping - which is made with two 1DLP laser phosphor projectors from the HS Series of Christie, boldColor technology and managed with Pandoras Box-, with geometric motifs on a sculpture created with tessellated pyramids.
Of great appeal and impact, Christie took over the projection under the long-term collaboration agreement she has entered into with this cultural center (more details on Digital AV), who now has a Lumen Prize in the Category of Popular Choice in its edition 2017.
Zarah Hussain (in the attached image) focuses his work on the intersection of science and spirituality, combining contemporary digital art and traditional and hand-drawn Islamic geometry in its creative practice.
The opportunity to work at this center and use Christie technology to express his ideas was an opportunity to shape 'Numina': "The capacity and power of the projections overwhelmed all my expectations," he said.. Even in the intense daylight, the animation shone spectacularly".
For its part, James Belso, Christie's Senior Sales Director, has noted that for the company "it is an immense pleasure to contribute to embossing such an extraordinary creative project. Thanks to current advances in projection technology, by conceiving their digital artworks artists can now think 'big' and without skimping on brightness".
Christie's partnership with Barbican Centre is focused "on providing artists with the latest audiovisual technologies and helping them create fascinating experiences, shocking and engaging to the public", Belso points out.
