McCarran International Airport installs a network of digital signage in its bus line
Each vehicle is equipped with two LG screens of 22 inches and these are controlled by BrightSign HD1023 media players, connected via high-speed cables to a video inverter. GPS detects the route to offer dynamic and personalized content.
McCarran is the main commercial airport for Las Vegas and the entire Clark County area of Nevada. Three miles away is the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center which travelers access through a large network of shuttle buses that are free of charge. Yearly, more than 7 Millions of people use this bus service to access this car rental center.
McCarran International Airport wanted to find a way to communicate, more effectively, with travelers using this means of transport. I wanted to take advantage of those 10-12 minutes it takes on the way between the airport and Rent-A-Car Center to transmit information in an impactful and dynamic way.
To find a solution, the advertising agency Lamar Airport Advertising worked with Social Butterfly World (SBW) to develop a plan and equip the fleet of 45 airport buses with a new digital signage infotainment network known as AVA – Audio Visual Ambassador.
SBW has collaborated with Lamar for several years, Creating marketing tools for this means of transport and other advertising campaigns throughout the airport. In the middle of last year, SBW was tasked with modernizing the airport's existing bus fleet with dynamic digital signage.
Working closely with independent fleet operator First Transit, The first 25 Buses are already equipped and ready to display content and the rest of the fleet will be installed by the second quarter of 2018.
The update includes the installation of two screens Lg of 22 inches on each bus, one in the front and the other in the central area of the vehicle, complemented with amplified audio. This location ensures that all passengers have optimal viewing.
The screens are controlled by HD1023 media players from BrightSign, connected via high-speed cables to a video inverter. The audio signal is amplified with an amplifier and then distributed to the legacy bus audio system.
GPS detects if the bus is traveling to or from the Rent-A-Car Center, What activates personalized marketing content. Arriving passengers will see information about shows and other activities in the Las Vegas area, while those who leave will see information about shopping options and restaurants within the airport.
“This new digital signage network reaches the most affluent subset of travelers at a time when they are more receptive to advertising.. This takes place at a time when they are quieter and most plan their activities in Las Vegas here.. AVA Network Offers McCarran International Airport Advertising and Concession Partners Targeted Messaging, Interactive and relevant, all integrated to improve return on investment", comments Andrea Collier, CEO of Social Butterfly World.
Content updates are distributed onboard each vehicle through Verizon WiFitowers, manages and distributes content wirelessly providing a straightforward and flexible process that ensures appropriate content is always displayed on the bus fleet.
