The Caves of Montserrat open to 3D projection and Led lighting to explain its history
Specialist Wasabi Produccions has carried out the audiovisual production and integration of laser and lighting projectors synchronized for this show.
Located in the municipality of Collbató, at the Catalan Lower Llobregat (Baix Llobregat), the tourist enclave of the Montserrat Caves has reopened to more than 20.000 annual visitors he received following a process of closure and renewal.
specifically, on the guided tour to the Cave of Salnitre, a gallery of 500 route meters of the three that exist, a striking audiovisual show of 3D projection and synchronized lighting is offered to explain the history of these famous caves and their surroundings, with the Virgin of the Morenette, and that has inspired geniuses like Gaudí.
Audiovisual production and execution of the mapping show inside the caves, seventeen minutes long, it has been the responsibility of the Catalan specialist Wasabi Productions, for which two 3LCD laser technology video projectors are used Epson, in particular the EB-L1300U model, WUXGA resolution and a luminosity of 8.000 lumens each, who work in warping and blending.
For synchronized playback, both the projection and the Led lighting of the show, players are used BrightSign and the control system Crestron. To counteract the environmental conditions of this environment, mainly moisture, Wasabi Productions has installed all equipment inside an IP65 protected watertight box.
"We opted for laser projectors to avoid heat and almost zero maintenance by not requiring lamp, as well as led lighting, with about twenty projectors, to provide a reliable and maximum durability solution that was protected from moisture", point from this producer.
Another challenge this audiovisual specialist has faced has been the projection on an uneven surface and with cracks like that of the cave to create the content.
To do this, the Wasabi Productions team previously scanned in 3D all the relief of the cave wall in which the mapping is carried out and filmed scenes with real actors, "And the result has been spectacular".
In addition to the history of caves and the environment projected onto these uneven rock walls, with 3D animations, moving images and synchronised light effects, the show features an original soundtrack created by artist Francesc Gener, creating an atmosphere of total immersion in the visitor.
