Global Robot Expo 2018 will discuss the future of drones in Spain and its legislation
The next 19 April, Madrid will become the focus of the debate on the future and the new regulatory framework that will regulate the sector of remotely piloted aircraft (RPAS) or drones.
The third edition of Global Robot Expo (GR-EX) international robotics fair to be held this year in IFEMA – Feria de Madrid, of the 18 to the 20 this April, will be the framework for presenting in scoop a document prepared by the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) and representatives of the remotely piloted aircraft industry (RPAS) on the new Royal Decree that will regulate the entire drone sector.
In Spain there are more than 3.000 registered drone operators and, all of them, they are awaiting the details of the implementation of the new Royal Decree regulating their operations, which was approved in December 2017. since, AESA works on the practical development of this regulatory framework together with the actors involved.
The results of this joint work, which will serve as a basis for the future authorization of drone flights in operational scenarios such as night flights, in urban areas or in controlled airspaces, will be presented for the first time publicly at Global Robot Expo 2018, within the cycle on the aerospace sector that will take place next year 19 April.
Juan José Sola, head of AESA's drone unit in Madrid, will be responsible for explaining the main findings of this work carried out by the Agency's RPAS Committee together with RPAS operators, aerial platform manufacturers, pilot schools and representatives of the Security Forces and Bodies.
This initiative of working with members of the sector recently received the Catherine Fargeon Award, awarded by the organization UVS International, for its commitment to raising awareness of the safety of civilian drone operations.
The award was collected by the director of AESA, Isabel Maestre, who will also be present at this series of conferences on the aerospace sector with other speakers of the stature of Andrew Hately, of Eurocontrol; Juan Ignacio Rueda Cid, of Enaire, and Peter Van Blyemburgh, of UVS International.
These days will have as a common thread the integration of drones within the airspace (UTM), contemplated within the Strategic Plan for the Development of Drones presented by the Ministry of Development (more data in Digital Security Magazine). Forecasts for the year 2030 include the use of drones in long-range cargo activities such as the transport of passengers or goods, but, Are they viable prospects in Spain??
To discuss all of this, GR-EX will host different conferences and tables of experts in air traffic control of Airbus, Boeing, Robot Aviation or Babcok International, among others. In parallel, there will also be discussions on the applications of drones in different fields such as geomatics, Emergency, security and safety.
In addition to the aerospace sector, this third edition of GR-EX will focus on industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence, which will allow visitors to know innovative solutions in artificial vision, cybersecurity, collaborative robotics, additive manufacturing, intelligent systems and the latest in industrial exoskeletons.
