The Davis Cup quarter-finals featured Work Pro for their sonorization

The Arion SL line array system 210 A of Work Pro has been part of a temporary installation of audio reinforcement that has been carried out in the Plaza de Toros in Valencia for the quarterfinal matches of the Davis Cup between Spain and Germany.

After announcing the call to install a temporary PA system for the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup, Work Pro, brand distributed by Equipson, accepted the challenge by supplying 20 SL speakers 210 A and two SL subwoofers 218 SA. Your Acoustics and Speaker Design Engineer, Joan La Roda, has been in charge of supervising the installation.

The Bullring of Valencia, with a capacity to 10.600 Spectators, was built between the years 1850 and 1860 and, as a local setting rich in historical tradition in the region, has been carefully preserved over the years.

Today it is one of the best preserved bullrings in Spain, but it has needed some changes before it can host the Davis Cup, event that has been held for the first time in this emblematic place.

Although the traditional circular shape of the venue guaranteed spectators an uninterrupted view of the matches, providing sound reinforcement was a different matter. The PA system, who had to take care of all the public address/voice alarm functions, as well as all the ambient music for the three-day event, had to ensure consistent and comprehensive coverage, both horizontally and vertically.

Because the temporary tennis court mainly occupied the available circular space, and the speakers had to be located on the floor, SL units 210 A had to provide uniform dispersion at a very steep angle to ensure full vertical coverage to all viewers..

Released on 2017, the Arion SL 210 A is a self-powered two-way line array with built-in DSP and Ethernet-based remote monitoring and control option. Together with your associated subwoofer SL 218 SA, is a versatile team, ideal for medium or large scale PA installations in theatres, concert halls and, also, in bullrings.

It would have been easy for an integrator to create a cheap PA/VA solution for the bullring, that sounded good at ground level but would be inaudible or incomprehensible in the upper rows of the place. Not only our Arion SL speakers 210 A once again demonstrated their technical capabilities, we are very proud of the work of our Head of Design at the Plaza de Toros Valencia to ensure that the placement of the 20 speakers were optimal, ensuring consistent coverage during the quarter-finals, on all levels of the square, with our 20kW system", comments Equipson's CSO Juan José Vila.
