Ikea uses NEC projection and visualization solutions for the digital experience of its stores
While with the projector P502HL-2 it is possible to create a more realistic environment in the exhibition, The PX803UL is part of an interactive experience that helps the customer choose the most suitable carpet for their needs.
Ikea has been working with the company for some years Beaver Group to incorporate various digital solutions into your 25 UK and Ireland stores. All your digital signage infrastructure is connected and managed centrally through beaver group's signage.ninja software platform, which optimizes the way Ikea displays its messages in the store and improves customer engagement.
The rollout of digital signage has changed the way customers interact in the store, but it has also improved the way the communication team delivers messages in the store. The latest addition to this innovative network has been made in the textiles department of the Milton Keynes store.
Ikea understands that some customers may have difficulty visualizing the correct carpet size they need, since these are suspended in an upright position or rolled up, ready to load into shopping carts.
In order to help buyers, Beaver Group developed an intuitive and interactive experience that is powered by a laser projector Nec PX803UL to display carpet dimensions, to life size, on the floor of the exhibition hall. This is controlled through a touch screen 22 inches where a custom-developed HTML application linked to the ninja signage platform runs.
The customer can select a carpet size manually or search through the product code. They may also choose to overlay different furniture designs on the contour of the carpet to help correctly calibrate the optimal size.
The NEC laser projector is suspended from the ceiling with an installation flexibility of 360 Degrees. With blue laser diode light source combined with phosphor wheel technology and without requiring filter replacement, The PX803UL provides reliable operation and with an operability of 20.000 hours. By providing images projected onto the floor with a brightness of 8.000 ANSI lumens, the dimensions of the carpet are visible even in a lot of light.
This innovative solution provides IKEA customers with an attractive and highly visual tool that helps them make the right purchase to improve their home.
In other stores it has been chosen by the laser projectors NEC P502HL-2 to create background themes and improve the design of the exhibition rooms. Playing video content helps them understand how to personalize their living spaces.
“NEC has a wide range of reliable and high quality products, especially suitable for the environments and applications that our customers need. in particular, its range of laser products has ensured that the solutions we have installed are very well received and our customers and their customers can enjoy their benefits of their use”, states Peter Critchley, director of Beaver Group.
On the other hand, in the ikea store in Norwich Beaver Group has installed a videowall 3×2 configured by NEC screens 55 Inch. These have been designed with a protective glass and incorporate the Touch Technology ShadowSense that offers up to 10 points of contact. Intuitive and easy-to-use touch behavior is crucial to allow shoppers to easily navigate products and room designs without frustration.
Ikea's store model shows how a forward-thinking retail business can use and benefit from digital systems in all its business operations.
