D&b GSL: Booster speakers for large spaces

The GSL8 and GSL12 speakers, of the D line&b GSL, with a horizontal dispersion of 80 and 120 Degrees, respectively, are unique from other types of large-scale line array modules, because they provide uniform control of the pattern up to 45 Hz.

The GSL system of d&B Audiotechnik is a complete solution created specifically for arena sound reinforcement applications, large stadiums and festivals. Their goal is to accurately deliver every type of musical genre or performance style.

The GSL8 and GSL12 speakers, with a horizontal dispersion of 80 and 120 Degrees, respectively, are unique from other types of large-scale line array modules, because they provide uniform control of the pattern up to 45 Hz.

The geometry of two motors of 14 Inch, Facing the front, and two of 10 Inch, sideways facing, Cardioid techniques are combined and applied to create precise directivity behavior with a significantly expanded low-frequency dynamic range to the audience area.

This extension of low frequencies and dynamic range is so effective that, in many applications, Avoids the need to hang subwoofers behind or next to main riggings.

The mid-frequency range is delivered via a high-sensitivity horn loaded with a 10" driver, while three innovative HF motors with 3.4" diaphragm, Custom designed and mounted on a wave-shaping device provide high-frequency resolution and output.

Each speaker is amplified in two-way active mode by the D80 amplifier from d&b: One channel activates the 14" engines, and for all other components the frequency is split and passively activated by a second channel.

The SL-Sub and SL-GSub complement the bass with two forward-facing 21" drivers and a single rear-facing 21" driver that delivers cardioid dispersion.

The former can be hung while the latter is designed for above-ground stacking applications. Amplified in two-way active mode from two channels of the D80 amplifier, its SPL and dynamic range reduce the number of subwoofers normally needed.

SL Series

To complete this comprehensive set, which was presented at the last edition of Prolight+Sound 2018, The SL Series includes a proprietary combination of tension and compression modes and procedures for three-point rigging of d&b.

Compression mode allows you to hang a straight line array from the transport carts and, with a lift or manual winch, The arrangement curves with the defined degrees of angulation between boxes. The transport trolleys are designed to fit standard truck and shipping container sizes, and can carry four GSL8 or GSL12 speakers or three SL subwoofers.

The Touring Rack Assembly housing six D80 amplifiers also contains a DS10 audio network bridge, MC24 multi-core system and provides power over Ethernet (Poe) for the inclinometer d&b ArraySight. In addition, uses OCA/AES70 protocol to send temperature and humidity information to the R1 remote control software.
