Large-format visual technology to help patients in hospitals
Five LG video walls, installed by the specialist OohScreen, allow patients at Benenden's English hospital to visualize relaxing images as they wait to be treated.
Displaying relaxing images on large screens helps calm the anxiety of patients waiting to be seen in a hospital, as those responsible for the renewed Hospital de Benenden, in the English town of Kent, point out after checking how the installation of large-format visual systems serve as therapy.
specifically, a fundamental part of the renovation of benenden Hospital was the design of the large atrium of the common waiting area with a relaxing atmosphere for patients and visitors, where technology became an art and a therapeutic tool to calm anxiety.
For this health project, the audiovisual specialist OohScreen has installed five videowalls with 4K resolution in the waiting area of the hospital center, in configuration 3×1 Consecutive, formed by screens of 55 manufacturer model 55LV75A inches Lg, visible from any angle.
The objective of these 4K videowall is "to bring the outside to the interior of a waiting room to create a quiet and comfortable environment for patients, from nature images to works of art, as one of the hospital's requirements was a firm focus on recovering patients through visual and sensory experiences.", explain from OohScreen.
Screens, installed in the atrium of the hospital, has natural light from the windows located on the ceiling. "No windows at eye level, this large waiting area was encapsulated, no access to hospital grounds, surrounded by green fields that are now recreated on the screens. LG's HD videowall solutions allowed us to use their screens in a portrait configuration -they point out in the installation company-, that not only blend in with the glass structure of the atrium environment, but they accentuate the work of art we create.".
Initially, those responsible for OohScreen thought of the screens of the OLED range of LG, although the natural light of the roof of the atrium could reduce the color in the equipment and, At last, opted for the manufacturer's bright 55LV75A display.
now, patients can relax and be entertained by the content, in horizontal and vertical movement, that is shown on the fifteen screens of the five videowalls while they wait for their appointments, that is controlled with the digital signage player of the XD1033 model BrightSign, that OohScreen managers update and manage remotely.
The firm's G4K Pro controlled Seada splits content between screens, that have been installed with professional brackets for videowall mounting of Peerless-AV.
