MIRA Digital Arts Festival presents immersive projects in fulldome format for this year's edition

The 360º stage of the festival, MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, will feature the world premiere in dome format of the audiovisual show Antarctic Takt, four pieces of video art in 360º format, a workshop on how to create immersive experiences in 360º dome and a master class on visual narratives in fulldome format.

MIRA Digital Arts Festival, to be held from the 8 to the 10 November in Barcelona, has unveiled the programming of MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, the 360º dome dedicated to immersive projects in fulldome format.

The dome, installed in the courtyard of Fàbrica de Creació – Fabra i Coats and co-produced by Eyesberg Studio with the technological support of Smode Studio, host an audiovisual show (integrated by a projection of four pieces of video art in 360º format), a workshop and a masterclass that will deal with how to create immersive experiences in immersive format.

MIRA's 360º stage will make a world premiere Antarctic Takt, an audiovisual show that proposes an abstract trip to Antarctica. It has been created by the Russian musician Dasha Rush in collaboration with visual artist Stanislav Glaszov.

360º video art

MIRA Dome by adidas Originals will also offer the projection of four pieces of video art in 360º format: Extraordinary Alien, Eye of the Dream, Contemporary Hardcore and Spectrum of the Coral.

Music producer Fatima Al Qadiri, with studio visuals Transforms Present Extraordinary Alien, a piece that aims to create extraterrestrial environments with the aim of highlighting the qualities of science fiction in earthly objects; whereas Eye of the Dream of David O'Reilly is a piece that explores fractal geometry.

Both immersive pieces are part of Berliner Festspiele/Immersion's The New Infinity programme and the Hamburg Planetarium.

The program will run until 2020 and, as well as presentations in Germany, will tour the United States in the summer of 2019 with the support of Goethe Institut.

Contemporary Hardcore by Konx-om-Pax, is the third piece of video art in 360º format that will be premiered in MIRA 2018. It is inspired by the hardcore morning atmosphere and the traces of the delirium of the previous night..

last, Spectrum of the Coral of Fragmatist is a piece commissioned jointly with Zaiba Jabbar, founder of the Hervisions platform. This shows an immersive space, from a surreal world of digitized landscapes, where the artist experiments with 3D scanning and sculptures in virtual reality in real time.

Workshops and workshops

scope 2018 in collaboration with Fiuhouse, Eyesberg and Telenoika, and sponsored by adidas Originals, organizes 'The mastery of immersion', a workshop focused on the creation of narrative content for fulldome 360º and the introduction and application of the Smode Studio software, a tool that allows you to work in an agile way thanks to its architecture.

The workshop, to be held from the 29 From October to 6 November, will consist of a theoretical part at the headquarters of the Association Telenoika and Fiuhouse, and a practical part at the MIRA Dome by adidas Originals.

This will cover the basics of a fulldome project, the creation of 360º audiovisual content with Smode, the technical approach and the various narrative formats for immersive environments. Registration here.

The master class, which will take place on Wednesday 7 November at MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, will feature several examples of storytelling and the different possibilities to transform it into an immersive experience by the hand of visual artist and musician Konx-om-Pax and the creative director of Eyesberg Studio, Jose Valiña.
