MIRA Festival celebrates its eighth edition with more than 50 activities dedicated to digital arts

MIRA. Digital Arts Festival It began its initiatives yesterday afternoon, giving rise to its eighth edition. Until the 10 November will offer at Fabra i Coats – Creation Factory of Barcelona more than 50 activities dedicated to digital arts.
These days you can see 18 shows audiovisuales, eight 3D sound shows and a sound installation on the 3D Sound Room stage by Son Estrella Galicia. In addition, Two large-format immersive art installations created exclusively for the festival have also been organized, a concert in the 360º dome, four 360º projections in MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, an art exhibition, eight DJ sessions, three conferences and two workshops.
MIRA 2018 occupies more than 1.300 square meters of the Sant Andreu factory and has six spaces: main stage, with more than 950 square meters and a screen of 54 square meters; 3D Sound Room by SON Estrella Galicia, dedicated to multi-dimensional sound and immersive hearing technology; MIRA Dome by adidas Originals, the immersive dome focused on the projection of 360º video art pieces; and two rooms for large format installations, created exclusively for the festival. one more year, Son Estrella Galicia has joined MIRA to support the most innovative digital art from around the world and has once again opted for the 3D Sound Room by Son Estrella Galicia stage, a room dedicated to multidimensional sound and immersive hearing technology, which offers electronic dance music proposals and hosts live bands, performances, DJ sessions and sound installations.
This stage hosts live performances by two bands that mix classical and electronic instruments (the Belgrade group Tapan and the German producer Wolf Müller with Niklas Wandt), live with modular synthesizers by Alessandro Adriani, DJ Stringray or Josey Rebelle sessions, and the sound installation by Julien Bayle, among other artists.
To the three-dimensional sound design of the 3D Sound Room stage by SON Estrella Galicia, created by Around Labs, This year, an immersive and generative lighting system of ProtoPixel and Tigrelab, with technical support from Robe Lighting.
For your part, NEC Display Solutions bets on MIRA and the fusion between live music, visual art and technology, providing professional projection equipment, to make the experience a sensory journey for the eyes.
360º dome and immersive installations
Adidas Originals returns to this festival for the fourth consecutive year to sponsor MIRA Dome by adidas Originals.
In this eighth edition, it offers a high-quality program of artistic and training content made up of four pieces of video art in 360º format., two of them are part of the program The New Infinity, co-produced with Berliner Festspiele/Immersion and the Hamburg Planetarium; a world premiere show in fulldome format; a workshop on how to create immersive experiences in 360º fulldome, and a master class on visual narratives in 360º dome format.
This space is co-produced by MIRA and Eyesberg, with the technical support of Smode Studio.
Besides, MIRA 2018 has two large-format immersive artistic installations created exclusively to be exhibited in two rooms at Fabra i Coats: Imaginary Limit, from the studio of contemporary artist Nick Verstand, in collaboration with sound technologist and co-founder of 4DSound Salvador Breed, that investigates the relationship with space through the perception of light and sound; y Licht, more light!, del artist new media Guillaume Marmin, that invites the viewer to explore the moment before dying thanks to the movement of the lights arranged in the shape of a tunnel.

The main stage shows
The main stage of MIRA 2018 hosts the only concert in Spain by the German band Tangerine Dream, who will present his new work, with visuals by Patrick Dunn.
The British post-rock band from the 90 Seefeel, with visuals by Dan Conway; The debut album of The Bug and the singer Miss Red will be presented; Christoph De Babalon's new live show, with visuals by Marta Verde; and the return of the new age band El Sueño de Hyparco, with an exclusive show for MIRA 2018, with visuals by Alba G. Corral.
artistic expression
As a novelty, MIRA 2018 has the exhibition In the Search for (modern) Pleasure, an exhibition that explores pleasure as a means of artistic expression and its relationship with the digital world.
The exhibition offers pieces by artists such as Brooke Candy, Filip Custic, Carlos Saez, Claire Tolan, Virgin Mary (Maria Forqué) y Esmay Wagemans.
The conference program follows the same thematic line as the exhibition. Three artists who present their works in the exhibition will talk about their works and projects: Claire Tolan will talk about her career in the sound exploration of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response); Filip Custic will talk about technological hedonism and universal and collective pleasure; and Keiken will offer an immersive conference with sound, performative actions and projections of digital and video works in 3D.
