'The Runner' activates passers-by through Super8 Media's outdoor screens
The digital art of Solimán López, through the content creation platform Ubox and the outdoor screens of Super8 Media at the Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid give shape to this interactive work with which the public can interact.
On the occasion of the recent edition of Arco 2019 and the fourteenth of Art Madrid'19, An interactive pilot experience has been launched that has included the digital work The Runner, of the artist Solimán López, and the collaboration of Super8 Media, through its digital screens located in the Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid, with which anyone could interact through their mobile phone to change the speed and direction of this unique 3D runner.
Solimán López, founder of the Harddiskmuseum and director of innovation at the School of Art and Technology of Valencia, created this video installation in loop, showing on screen a running track with a digital skin surface, in which a 3D runner has been running, thanks to the Ubox interactive content creation platform, From the last day 30 at the January exhibition Skinning,at the CEART in Fuenlabrada, Until next time 24 March, and which last week could be seen on the outdoor screens of the Palacio de la Prensa in Madrid.
For this creation, and as Solimán López has explained, The camera travels through the different streets of the track on which it is located The Runner, in a circular loop, An infinite loop, "With the idea of expressing that we run in circles, a metaphor for sport with the hidden efforts that technology develops behind our backs and that are made visible with this interactive character".
In its realization, in which they have also collaborated Led Dream and Ubiquo Techs, Eleven screens of 3,4 Inch, Mini speakers and eleven videos, two minutes long, obtained from 3D rendering.
The Runner React to the presence of the public, that can modify the intensity, Runner's trajectory and speed via a link on their mobile phone. The system recognizes in a database the different parameters obtained from the race, such as distance or calories consumed, etc. which so far stands at more than 2.500 Km. routes and around 200.000 calories.
