Mutua Madrid Open incorporates augmented reality in tennis tournaments
From Oracle, has created an 'Augmented Reality Zone'’ that gives fans information about services, statistics and development of meetings.
Mutua Madrid Open, one of the world's leading tennis tournaments in this city, and that will take place between the 3 and the 12 May, has added to its mobile app an 'Augmented Reality Zone', to bring fans all the information and services of the competition.
This functionality has been developed with technology Oracle Cloud and allows access to information about points of interest and services in the venue, as well as statistics of the matches held on the center court. For the implementation of this project, Mutua Madrid Open 2019, has relied on Oracle, supported by its partner BPM SOA Solutions (Bss), that has been the company responsible for the development and implementation.
In this way, Mutua Madrid Open becomes the first major ATP Masters tournament 1000 or WTA Premier to incorporate this type of application. Already in the edition of 2018, the tournament was anticipated with the creation of Matchbot, a virtual assistant based on Oracle's smart chatbots, equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Matchbot leverages artificial intelligence to have natural conversations with users, providing information on the development of the event, players and results, as well as details about catering services, accesses and car parks. It is also a channel for ticket sales and for discounts on merchandising products.
Best experience for the amateur
The 'Augmented Reality Zone' increases fans' chances of getting up-to-date information on the services offered on the premises, as well as the development of the parties.
Users will be able to identify on mobile, pointing at the camera, where the points of interest and essential services are, such as exhibition spaces, shopping and dining area, the location of the training and playing tracks, and so on.
Based on the location and position of the device, the system shows the plant you are in and the distance and direction you need to take to get to the desired location. This functionality improves the user experience by placing you inside the enclosure and allows you to access the sites without searching for an information point, avoiding unnecessary spinning.
As far as the development of the matches on the center court is concerned,, users will be able to, pointing at your mobile phone's camera, access statistical and biographical information about players.
This includes data such as the ATP ranking, age, height, nationality, palmarés, as well as statistical data on your game (first services won, second services won, Aces, breakpoints, un forced mistakes, and so on). This information is updated in real time as the tournament unfolds.
