DAS Audio Artec Series Ensures Voice Intelligibility in Places of Worship
In the Californian church of Emmaus the sound system has been renewed and an Artec-320 line-array has been installed., along with three Artec-322S subwoofers for low frequency and two Artec-306 boxes in its passive version.
Emmaus Church is a Christian congregation with a contemporary approach that captivates its parishioners. Apart from the word, Music assumes a fundamental role in its services. To ensure maximum clarity and natural sound reproduction, The Church leadership has decided to reinforce its sound system with the DAS Audio of the Artec series 300.
The Californian design/assembly firm Props AV was responsible for designing and installing the new sound system. Michael Betancourt, general director of the company and member of the Emmaus congregation, opted for a system consisting of an Artec-320 line-array along with three Artec-322S subwoofers for low frequency and two Artec-306 boxes in its passive version. All systems were chosen in white to integrate with the aesthetics of the temple..
In this audio system upgrade they opted to fly a central cluster of six Artec-320 boxes over the altar/stage area., accompanied by three Artec-322S subwoofers flown directly behind the Artec-320 in cardioid configuration to reduce bass contamination on the altar.
The worship area has a wing-like area on the left side in front of the stage, and to ensure coverage two Artec-306 systems have been installed.
Also, used a single power amplifier of 4 DX-80i channels to power the core group and subwoofers, plus an IA-402 two-channel power amplifier to amplify the two Artec-306s.
Betancourt describes the reasons for choosing DAS Audio systems. “First and foremost was the sound quality of the Artec series., both for music playback and for voice intelligibility. Secondly, The dispersion characteristics of these speakers make the sound directional, eliminating the need for sound treatments to reduce reflections. In addition, The compact size of the boxes allows for a clean installation that blends into the space while the flown subwoofers keep the altar area clear.".
