Bosch Dicentis puts himself at the service of local Basingstone and Deane policy
The City Council of this town in the Southeast of England now has this IP-based conference system to hold its plenary sessions and stream them through its YouTube channel.
Basingstoke and Deane is a municipal district in the English county of Hampshire, an area known for its family atmosphere that has more than 175.000 Residents. his town hall is made up of sixty councillors who debate local politics, municipal budgets and taxes.
To offer full transparency to your electorate, the town hall transmits by streaming all your meetings, including public votes, through its YouTube.
Precisely to ensure a high level of video production, the mayor's office decided to upgrade the conference system to a more modern and IP-based one; a project carried out by the system integrator VP Bastion, based in Andover, with the Dicentis conferencing system of Bosch.
The system responds to the priorities of the mayor's office, as it offers high audio quality, full integration of live voting, Built-in automatic camera control and direct streaming, with indication of the name of the speaker.
In addition, councillors wanted to have the freedom to sit wherever they wanted in the council chamber during sessions, without preventing the camera from automatically identifying them, and the installation had to be adapted to the limited space on the tables and the gaps required for wiring.
The system includes 63 Dicentis discussion units with touch screens (which offer the necessary voting and identification services for councillors); nine debate-only Dicentis units for guest speakers and software for automatic camera control. All discussion units are mounted on raised stands to maximize table space and are equipped with high-directional microphones to deliver high-quality audio.
Councillors can sit anywhere in the meeting room, since the system automatically records your presence in a specific location thanks to nfc card registration (Near Field Communication) in the discussion units. When a speaker activates their microphone, the system's automatic camera control directs it to its location, enlarges the image and displays it on the big screen.
Thanks to Dicentis' compatibility with third-party software, other features have been added to the installation. MVI Engineering, specialist in the creation of conferencing software solutions, worked together with VP Bastion to create a webcast and conference control software package that was integrated with the Dicentis system.
This solution contributed to respond to all the requirements of the mayor's office, including reporting through a feed of live images and identification by name and party on the Basingstoke and Deane City Council's YouTube channel.
In addition to displaying the results of Dicentis-compatible voting on the large screen of the council chamber, now it is possible to share them in the feed live on YouTube.
Since its installation, the Dicentis system facilitates the fluid and transparent democratic process in this town hall. "Have a fully integrated conferencing system with Feeds audio and video of meetings that are automatically transmitted by streaming on his YouTube channel it was essential- explains Iain Steele, director of VP Bastion (now called VP-AV)-. Backstage, through the application of MVI Engineering, the system is automatically updated to the latest versions of the software, which saves time and operating costs".
In addition, the city council has an expandable and future-proof conference solution supplied by Bosch, which already serves around half of the municipalities in the UK and Ireland.
