Shiseido's innovation center installs Sony's largest Crystal Led video wall at its headquarters
The global research center of the Japanese beauty brand, located in Yokohama, is the first facility to exhibit the world's largest Crystal Led system, with an impressive resolution of 16K × 4K.
Shiseido Global Innovation Center (GIC, also known as S/Park) doubles its function as a state-of-the-art research and development center of the Japanese firm, as well as visitors and customers who want to know the latest advances of this international brand of cosmetics and beauty.
Opened in April 2019, this center has offices, studies and collaboration spaces for researchers and experts from the beauty industry to expand their knowledge; business partners develop new business opportunities and visitors interact with this renowned firm, all under the slogan 'beauty innovations for a better world'.
Occupying two floors of the building, in a large open space, all those who come to this R&D center find a gigantic visual wall that leaves no one indifferent, not only for the quality of the image but because it is currently the Videowall Crystal Led of the Japanese multinational Sony world's largest.
specifically, this huge screen is composed of 576 individual modules fitted with submillimeter precision, creating this impressive videowall that offers a resolution of 16K × 4K, whose technology was presented a few months ago (more details on Digital AV).
Unlike conventional modular video walls, bezel-less modules create a uniform large screen, no joints or visible gaps. The result: a totally impeccable and immersive visual experience for visitors to S/Park, no individual pixels visible, even when they are close to the system.
"We had analyzed several Led video systems, and a fundamental aspect was how the pixels would look when we were close to the screen," explains Tetsuyuki Kushiro., project manager of shiseido's R&D center-. With Crystal Led the size of the light sources is exceptionally small, to the point that they are not noticeable at all. And although the big screen is made up of smaller display units, you don't see where they come together.".
In close collaboration with Shiseido, Sony PCL specialized digital media production teams in Tokyo created stunning and exclusive visual footage, with a resolution 16 K x 4K that has beaten all the corners, specially designed for S/Park. Elephants, Giraffes, lions and apes dance and play in the lush, timeless Japanese forest of Yakushima, while the whales, dolphins and penguins magically sail through open skies, in an incredible visual spectacle.
"Through this wonderful video content, we are encouraging people to change what they consider '”normal,' says Kentaro Kurauchi, Director of the Supervisory Department S/Park Planning Group-. We want them to see that the catalyst they need to change what they currently consider 'normal'.’ it's in there.".
