Critically acclaimed and audience-acclaimed, the show Moulin Rouge on Broadway (New York) offers viewers a unique experience, with a design and staging, top-notch technical team and cast.

For the lighting control of the work they wanted to have the power of the EOS Ti console of the manufacturer Etc, brand distributed in the Spanish market by Stonex, currently used in Spain in musical control booths such as The Lion King, Anastasia and The call, among others.

"The show is made possible by ETC products," explains the lighting designer of the musical Moulin Rouge, Justin Townsend-. We have to work with a lot of information and no other console could have been in charge of this show".

Much of the audience is familiar with the film that was made in 2001 of Moulin Rouge, a work devised by Baz Luhrmann. That's why, a very important aspect for the creative team of this musical was to create a show that would live up to the feature film while standing out for itself.

blank"Our intention was to go beyond a simple recreation of the film, trying to create an experience Moulin Rouge live," Townsend points out,. Designer Derek McLane's spectacular scenery combines with Justin Townsend's electrifying lighting design. We needed a bold show, agile, striking, rococo, and I'm delighted that we've been able to have so many resources to make it happen".

With about two hundred moving heads, including Led, Led and traditional neons, unloading lamps and a lot of candilejas, the show needed a lighting control that met these expectations and the answer was the EOS console.

As Brad Gray points out, lighting programmer, "any show needs to have something that's difficult, either pixel mapping, complex effects or discrete timming. This show is a combination of all the most complicated things I've worked with before".

blankThe EOS Ti console has provided enough versatility to combine and program complex effects, in addition to offering the ability to reliably control thousands and thousands of parameters. One of the main advantages that EOS software offers Townsend and Gray is its ability to create a variety of Magic Sheets.

specifically, Gray created ten Magic Sheets interacting with each other; a complex task that included more than 6.000 canals. But once built, Townsend was able to interact with the script in a simple way.

"This work has been very exciting. Thanks to the Magic Sheets and multi-touch screens is like we've created our own app to Moulin Rouge -Townsend says. One of the best things about EOS software is that it's very friendly. This family of consoles is incredibly popular and is already used in a total of 27 Broadway productions".
