GE Hitachi and Virtualware create a new training concept based on immersive VR rooms
The first development is a simulator to train fuel movement operations personnel, in which a physical replica of the required computer connected directly to the virtual environment is used.
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) and Virtualware have launched a new training concept based on immersive virtual reality rooms. A collaboration for installation, in different locations around the world, of advanced simulators, combining OEM expertise, training content and knowledge of the GE process, with Viroo virtual reality technology.
Viroo is a Virtualware solution that allows any organization, deploy on a real scale (1:1) any virtual reality and multi-user content, thanks to the tracking system and its software platform in rooms of any size. This allows GEH to manage, operate and manage rooms efficiently, as well as generate and include new content, associated with the needs at all times. It is the key to turning advanced technology into a simple and accessible solution for GEH teams.
"This launch is a major milestone in our history.. Not only does it position us worldwide for what it means to work with a reference company like GEH, but also reaffirms the commitment we made three years ago to develop a product like Viroo, which is the basis of this agreement" declares Unai Extremo, CEO of Virtualware.
The first development is a simulator to train fuel movement operations personnel, which also uses a physical replica of the required computer connected directly to the virtual environment. Moving fuel is a complex task, that requires a high level of preparation and coordination between the different people involved in the process.
This first fuel motion simulator is the first of a new generation of simulators that GE Hitachi will launch on the market in the coming years., hand in hand with Virtualware.
This initiative will improve the skills of the operating staff, through thorough training that will contribute to the reduction of costs and risks. Revolutionize nuclear training through tailor-made training solutions, just-in-time, contributing to the reduction of operational costs associated with training and quality issues.
A new generation of simulators for the transfer of fuel that will be launched in the coming years, for different types of BWR reactors, PWR and D&D.
"GEH will be in charge of creating the next generation of simulators to train in nuclear processes.. Simulators that will allow us to be more competitive by training and training our team and that of our customers. In addition to getting detailed information about how people follow processes, to continue improving them. This agreement is a first step to a world, that of immersive technology, in which GEH will acquire a leading role leading its application to the nuclear sector", clarifies Ricardo Moreno, VP of GE Hitachi Europe.
