Audio Lisbon bets on Genelec's technology for its immersive audio room
SAM monitors are a fundamental piece in this new immersive study as part of the Portuguese company's internationalization strategy.
The new immersive audio room from Audio Lisbon It has been created as a service gateway to start its expansion in the international market, Betting on a monitoring system 7.1.4 that generates added value to the proposal that this company already offered, as a natural progression of the system 5.1 with whom they had been working for a long time.
"As it is a new facility designed off-plan, it seemed logical to plan and install this format at an early stage of the project and avoid making changes in the future," explains Pedro Carvalho, partner of Audio Lisbon. For us, it's also a way to offer other solutions to regular customers, as well as attracting new customers from other markets".
After making this decision, The next challenge was to find the right tools to improve the studio's workflow. "We considered various brands and systems. We wanted active monitors, Near Field, Self-calibrating, with an SPL suitable for the volume of the room, and have AES/EBU connectivity to integrate with an Avid MTRX interface. And of course, They also had to sound good.", recalls Carvalho
Garrett Audiovisuais, Local Distributor of Genelec, got involved in this project. As Pedro Carvalho points out, "since this manufacturer launched The Ones series of coaxial monitors from 3 Way, We were curious to hear what they could do. After a visit to listen to the 8351s in a Garrett room, All our doubts were dispelled.".
Thanks to the work with Marcelo Tavares, by Audio Designer, for acoustic design, and Paulo Mendes in technical design and installation, Audio Lisbon opted for a solution 7.1.4 Genelec fully SAM (Smart Active Monitoring).
8341A Coaxial Monitors Installed in LCR Front Positions, while the 8340A two-way equipment is used to handle the side and rear surrounds, and the compact 8330A two-way models for reproducing in-ceiling channels.
In addition, two subwoofers are added to handle low-frequency content and manage the system's bass. A 7370A subwoofer coupled with front and surround monitors, along with a 7360A model (More compact) To partner with top monitors.
After the installation of the system, Carvalho highlights the fine-tuning that allows the calibration of the GLM software: "although I had full confidence in Marcelo's acoustic work, It is a great advantage to have a system that corrects minor anomalies in the acoustics of the room, as well as storing different calibration settings, From a 2.0 up to a 7.1.4, in a practical and effective way".
After completing the project with these coaxial models, He explains: "The sound quality and detail is impressive and the size/power ratio is unbelievable. Even choosing a mix of coaxial and conventional two-way monitors for our system, The balance obtained is really good. This investment represents an opportunity for expansion into other markets, both nationally and internationally".
