Maverick AV Solutions reorganizes its European directive to strengthen AV/IT convergence

Joan Aixa has been appointed European Director of Smart Signage of this specialized division for Smart Meetings and Smart Signage of Tech Data, and Carlos Bertrand as head of Iberia.

The convergence between IT and AV has been reinforced in recent times. The offer of Maverick AV Solutions, division specialized in Smart Meeting and Smart Signage of Tech Data, has been complemented and driven by the incorporation of IoT solutions, cloud and analytics.

To better cope with these market movements, and under the direction of Joel Chimonides, Vice President of Maverick Europe, Joan Aixa (in the image above) assumes the new responsibility of defining and directing the strategy of Smart Signage solutions of the wholesaler in Europe.

Aixa joined Tech Data at 2006 as product manager in the PC Components division. When in 2009, as part of the strategy called 'collection of specialists', Tech Data decided to start the European deployment of the Maverick division, this professional joined the new project as a business manager together with a team specialized in audiovisuals and 2011 assumed leadership of the division in Spain and Portugal.

In these last ten years, Maverick AV Solutions has established itself as an AV benchmark in the market thanks to its professionals and belonging to a leading group such as Tech Data, as Aixa points out.

With them I have shared the illusion of creating in Spain and Portugal a leading division in the areas of Smart Meeting, Smart Learning and Smart Signage. As Aixa explains after his appointment, "Now the time has come for Smart Signage, of which we are leaders in Iberia, becomes a strategic pillar also in each and every European country".

The operation of Maverick Iberia is now under the responsibility of Carlos Bertrand, senior division manager of Maverick AV Solutions (attached image). Bachelor of Business Administration and Management (ADE) by the UOC, this professional has a double degree in Business Studies from the EUNCET (UPC) and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wales.

Bertrand joined Maverick in the year 2010 where, among other responsibilities, has managed the Portuguese market. "Under the direction of Joan Aixa, Maverick has grown from a supplier of projection equipment to a leading provider of solutions in the Smart Signage markets, Smart Meetings and education. Overcoming those successes is an important challenge that I will take on with enthusiasm.".

Bertrand to report to Santiago Méndez, director of Advance Solutions Iberia, who stresses that "the convergence between AV solutions and IoT solutions, Cloud and Analytics is indisputable. My goal is to strengthen the value of the solutions we offer to the channel, further encouraging cooperation between specialized areas, such as Advanced Solutions and Maverick AV, optimizing resources and skills".
