#Red Alert #WeMakeEvents demands a return to work in an impeccable mobilization in times of pandemic
With the request for urgent measures in the face of the serious economic situation, thousands of professionals in defense of the entertainment and events sector, MICE and culture became 'visible' yesterday in twenty-eight Spanish cities. One voice and one goal: concrete aid from the administrations and being able to work.
The movement #Red Alert #WeDoEvents, which brings together more than 37 associations and participatory movements in the entertainment and events sector, MICE and culture came out yesterday, simultaneously, to the streets of twenty-eight Spanish cities, as already announced Digital AV, to urge Public Administrations “to take urgent measures to guarantee the survival of the sector and immediately create a working group to build firm foundations, solid and durable”, according to his statement
Thousands of professionals from this broad and heterogeneous group, united in a single voice, made visible his 'alarming situation, on the verge of collapse' before the administrations on which they are dependent, like Culture and Sports, Industry and Tourism.
Honoring your daily work, 'almost always invisible', The organization of the mobilization has been impeccable, demonstrating that 'culture and the holding of events is not only safe, but exemplary”, with thousands of professionals and their teams, keeping distance and wearing a mask (see accompanying video made by Studio Vintage), in which attendee traceability tools were used, QR codes by sectors, staggered arrival and departure times, among other security measures in the current COVID-19 context.
A management of this great coordinated mobilization of more than 25.000 assistants, according to first estimates, that were concentrated in central spaces of Albacete, Alicante, Almeria, Barcelona, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Gijon, Granada, Ibiza, The Palms, Logroño, Lleida, Madrid, Málaga, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona, Santander, Sevilla, Tarragona, Tenerife, Valencia, Valladolid, Vigo, Vitoria and Zaragoza, many of them 'tinted' with red lighting.
Associations, Agencies and event and entertainment companies, sound technicians, video, lightning, going through installers, rental companies, fairgrounds, together with musicians, artists, actors, stewardesses and more, affected by months and months without working due to the pandemic and who continue not to do so, They claimed their “unsustainable situation.”, which will mean the ruin of thousands of families, and the future unviability of companies and activities of thousands of professionals”.
As participants in the Madrid mobilization pointed out, “In our sector we are specialists in always going unnoticed; so that it is not noticed that we are, don't tell us anything, don't even look at us. We do not exist in the eyes of the public… We are event organizers. “Today we have made ourselves visible to try to alleviate this disaster.”.
With the need to ask for urgent help from administrations in the face of “a situation of vulnerability and lack of concrete aid”, and the priority objective of reactivating the sector, “because we want to work”, From this movement they emphasize that “we have the necessary security measures and protocols and we have to be able to once again be the engine of the economy.”.
In this sense, The entertainment and events sector has a direct impact on the economic fabric of the country. 3,8% of Spanish GDP, according to market estimates, and is the creator of 700.000 related jobs.
Waiting for solutions, the next 30 September there will be a Global Day, in which professionals and companies from all over the world will come together to give voice to the sector internationally on the same day and in which thousands of buildings around the world will illuminate their facades and their scenic spaces in red, alarming about the situation of collapse suffered by the sector (more data in your web).
International organizations are also asking for the support of citizens so that the 30 Balconies and windows are 'tinged' with red light in September, to give greater visibility.
