The Swiss TV channel La Télé renews the display equipment of the studios with Philips PDS
The new installation of videowall, composed of a total of 27 Screens, 24 X-Line of 49 inches and three Q-Line of 86, brings new levels of creativity and opportunities for scenography, in addition to optimizing management and reducing the waiting time between live broadcasts.
The range of HD Q-Line videowall screens (86BDL3050Q) and X-Line (BDL4988XC ) of Philips Professional Display Solutions are the centerpieces at two of Switzerland's most popular TV studios, providing new advantages for both viewers and presenters and guests, during live broadcasts.
The installation, which includes a total of 27 screens distributed between the two venues, is part of an improvement project, launched by the main Swiss television channel, La Télé, very popular for offering a wide range of live debates and discussions with current guests, as well as leisure programs and family entertainment.
In broadcast from 2009, La Télé is a French-speaking high-definition television channel, that transmits daily to the 8,57 millions of residents in Switzerland, as well as those who watch it internationally online. It has built its reputation, both nationally and internationally, for broadcasting a wide variety of current and regional programs. Puts a strong emphasis on political news, Economic, Social, sports and cultural, as well as in family entertainment and contests.
Available on Swisscom TV, Citycable, UPC Cablecom and Net +network, most of the action takes place in the two studios that are an hour away from the chain., located in the mountainous district of Vaud and in the medieval city of Freiburg.
With daily live shows, these studies have a great activity, providing an open space for people to express themselves and exchange views to inform and entertain the public.
Needs and demands
With a growing audience and an ever-growing list of TV shows, in addition to having a large number of sets, the needs and demands in the study have intensified.
With daily recording sessions in a row and both studios in constant activity, La Télé needed a new high-quality display/signage solution, flexible and future-proof. A solution that will provide them with high visual performance, for both viewers and studio guests. It also had to provide the versatility to safely create and recreate unique and innovative set designs for each show., as quickly and efficiently as possible.
With a busy schedule and the requirements of the studio sets, which often vary greatly between programs – ranging from presentations, debates with several guests and different leisure programs and competitions-, potential delays or even a failure are not an option to maintain the best experience and ensure viewers don't disconnect or go to another network..
High-quality visualization
To meet the requirements of this complex project, La Télé turned to television production designer and architect Franck Fellemann and Informatique Nexan, a local company that focuses on IT solutions and providing dedicated business services, including cloud hosting and security.
With extensive knowledge of the market and having worked in a large number of organizations during the last decade, Nexan partnered with Philips Professional Display Solutions to install a total of 27 fully connected high-resolution displays, that have become the centerpieces of every studio.
To ensure a high-quality viewing experience, as well as extensive back-end management control, flexible and remote, and content creation and preservation capabilities, were strategically installed in each studio 24 Philips X-Line displays 49 inches along with three Q-Line models of 86 Inch.
Securely connected to the station's network, all screens can be managed automatically or manually through a custom control system to display news, branded scenography, questions about game shows and other items, no need to need an extra person in the control room.
The national specialist in videowall integration was also used, Martix Resolution, for display settings and calibration, ensuring optimal display performance.
Mediasupport of D.Kunz, another local company specialized in production, sale, operation and maintenance of hardware and software for the production of multimedia content for television, radio and Internet, you have created custom software, powered by the Newsroom Computer System (NRCS) to operate each display independently. A turnkey design approach has been led by the studio's in-house team to meet the station's current and future needs.
Results since installation have exceeded expectations, and new solutions have resulted in faster set changes, flexibñex and efficient costs for the station.
