Extron Quantum Ultra powers immersive and artistic videowall in the new Legacy Union tower
Located in Charlotte (North Carolina), the tower has in its lobby a large format Led visual system of NanoLumens in which creative contents are shown, in addition to offering property owners a high-impact advertising platform.
Belonging to the real estate agency Lincoln Harris, the new tower of Legacy Union is already an emblematic space for commercial use located in Charlotte (North Carolina -USA), in whose lobby is located a large-format and high-impact display system to capture the attention of visitors in the main lobby, in addition to offering property owners a unique advertising platform.
The Legacy Union Tower, with a surface of 78.968 m² distributed in 33 plants, It has in its elegant lobby with a led videowall of NanoLumens, of 4 pixel pitch mm, with a height of three floors (11 meters high and 19,5 width) and 4K video resolution that has been integrated by the firm Cenero.
Sources include sixteen cable TV tuners and a Seneca computer that offers Unify the artistic content produced by Second Story. Periodically, this company transfers new content to the computer, with the history and art of the city center, along with concepts and creations that represent the future of the City of Charlotte.
This system allows any type of arrangement of up to sixteen simultaneous sources, with an additional and optional as a background for the rest, and where the Seneca computer is the main source that covers the canvas with a 4K/60 video image.
Cenero and NanoLumens evaluated and carried out tests in the laboratory of the latter company to choose the right solution for system management, which was the 4K Quantum Ultra videowall processor 610 of Extron.
The choice of Quantum Ultra was determined by two factors: its ability to support the native resolution of 4,096×2.304p of the videowall and a modular architecture to meet the design specifications in its configuration.
Extron Quantum Ultra 610 also includes a HyperLane video bus from 400 Gbps, frame-locking outputs, output overlay and adjustable edge compensation. To this is added its embedded operating system, that is located on a write-protected, solid-state storage drive, along with redundant and hot-swappable power supplies for reliable operation.
The chassis of the videowall processor, with slots for ten cards, is configured with seven Extron IN4-HDMI inputs and two Extron Out4-HDMI inputs. Sixteen cable TV tuners are connected directly to HDMI inputs.
For the Seneca computer, an HDMI to HDMI 4K/60 scaler, specifically the DSC model HD-HD 4K Plus Axi of Extron converts the video of a route to 4K/60 of dual route for transmission to the processor of the videowall.
Quantum Ultra performs upscaling of the content of the sources to match the native resolution of 4K of the videowall. Four outputs connect to the NanoLumens Led controller with 2,048 signals×1.152/60 hz.
After installation and operation, many tenants requested to advertise on this videowall that shows in an artistic way the past, present and future of the city of Charlotte. No other building in the city has anything like it to date..
