Audio-Technica creates a permanent demo room for Genelec monitors free of reflections
Zero Reflections Space, what this innovative room is called, allows sound technicians to appreciate the sound qualities of The Ones monitors with all the guarantees 8361A and the W371A adaptive woofer of the multinational audio company.
Located on the premises of Audio-Technica Iberia, in the TAF Room of Arroyomolinos (Madrid), Zero Reflections Space is the demo room that this company has prepared, in a reflection-free environment, to be able to appreciate the sonic qualities of The Ones 8361A monitors and the W371A adaptive woofer from Genelec.
In Zero Reflections Space, Sound technicians in recording and broadcast studios have the opportunity to listen to their favourite songs, or the audio program selected by Audio-Technica, and discover the advantages of these coaxial monitors working in conjunction with the adaptive bass system.
Roberto López, Broadcast and Studio Brand Manager at Audio-Technica Iberia, is responsible for attending and demonstrating to professionals the multiple possibilities of these systems when they work together, especially the W371A adaptive woofer system.
This equipment allows for an extremely flat response in different types of space, No need for expensive acoustic treatments or bass traps. This results in better management of directivity thanks to its three working modes: complementary, Continuous directivity or anti-reflections.
The Ones 8361A SAM coaxial monitors from 3 Track Provides Optimal Control of DCW Directivity, with a totally neutral sound inside the axis and very little color outside it, maintaining very high SPL performance, with analog and AES/EBU connectivity.
The Ones 8361A SAM
This powered coaxial monitor from 3 10" Track Delivers the Most Advanced Acoustic Performance of any Studio Monitor Ever Manufactured. Delivering an exceptionally wide dynamic range, as well as its directionality and sound image and an SPL of 118 db, Provides the highest quality monitoring at any listening distance (until 5 metre), Ideal for small to medium-sized rooms.
Incorporates two acoustically concealed woofers, New design, that generate high SPL with exceptionally low distortion and new MDC coaxial transducers for mids and highs to provide consistent directivity, Low distortion, high SPL and a wide frequency response that reaches 40 khz.
The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure of the 8361 Removes coloration. And the entirety of the front baffle acts as a directivity control waveguide, generating an extremely wide and coloration-free hearing spot.
Like all models in The Ones series, Genelec 8361 facilitates faster and more consistent decision-making, as well as working reliably in longer sessions, since unnatural images (The main contributing factor to hearing fatigue) are minimized.
When used in combination with GLM calibration software, Can be adapted to any acoustic space, compensating for all the negative factors introduced by the acoustics of the room, as well as helping to produce reliable mixtures, from stereo to highly complex immersive formats.
The system 8361 includes MDC technology (Minimum diffraction coaxial); DCW (Directivity control waveguide); ACW (Acoustically concealed woofers); ISS (Intelligent signal sensing), Protection circuits, optimized amplification and is compatible with ISO-Pod mounts.
The Ones W371A SAM
This 14" self-powered adaptive bass + 12" by Genelec is described as a revolution in bass reproduction, as it definitively eliminates the negative influences of the room on bass reproduction.
The W371A SAM has been designed to perfectly complement monitors 8341, 8351 and 8361 from the series The Ones and, together with these models, create a series of full-range monitoring solutions capable of offering unprecedented neutrality, and maximum levels of control over the directionality and effects of room acoustics.
For the first time, A studio can have all the advantages of a main monitor but with the freedom to place this standalone system in the optimal position within the control room. In addition, Offers the ability to switch between nearfield monitor and main OR, no image shift.
Incorporates two high-performance woofers: one forward-facing and one rear-facing, and features a wide palette of novel shapes to tailor system performance to the room in the lowest critical four octaves, delivering a flatter, more uniform in-room frequency response with more coherent LF images.
Genelec W371A uses GLM software to select and optimize signal processing for the best bass radiation mode, taking into account both the location of the monitor and the listening position.
It also serves as a stand for The Ones three-way monitors, for seamless integration. Combined with W371A they offer three different modes of low-frequency radiation within the room: complementary, Continuous directivity and anti-reflection.
All of them allow the user to choose between a flat and neutral LF response, avoiding 'acoustic cuts', with continuous directivity of the main monitor up to the lowest LF frequencies, or the reduction of harmful reflections on walls, Room ceiling or floor.
To attend, Zero Reflections Space send an email to rlopez@audio-technica.es stating the name, Mobile phone number and possible dates/times.
