The new Sharp NEC Display Solutions starts operations in the AV market and collaboration
Active since the 1 November, Both Japanese companies have completed their announced transaction, following the acquisition of the 66% of the shares of this subsidiary of NEC, to form the current SNDS.
Sharp Corporation and NEC Corporation have completed the previously announced transaction to form a joint venture in the audiovisual and collaborative environment, in which the former acquired the 66% of NEC Display Solutions shares (NDS), an audiovisual subsidiary of the Japanese company.
After this process, NDS has changed its company name to Sharp NEC Display Solutions (SNDS) and has commenced commercial operations as a subsidiary of Sharp since the 1 November 2020.
The newly formed SNDS will continue its focus on the professional display business, producing and developing a wide range of display solutions for a variety of markets and applications.
Hisatsugu Nakatani, President of NEC Display Solutions, he will also serve as president of SNDS, while Fujikazu Nakayama, CEO and President of Sharp Business Solutions, will be the Chairman of the Board.
This new company "represents an ongoing commitment to the display solutions business. Both the Sharp and NDS businesses are market-leading brands in the production and development of visual solutions, and the Sharp-NEC joint venture will result in a wide range of synergies.", according to the company's statement.
The new SNDS "addresses this new opportunity with plans to continue to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions to its customers around the world".
