The University of La Coruña implements the virtual classroom system edustream of cinfo
This system adapts to the teacher's way of teaching, that can move smoothly through the classroom, while all students (face-to-face and remote) follow the explanation in the same way.
the Competence and Development Group has worked alongside CINFO, Spanish company specialized in automatic production technologies, to install the edustream virtual classroom system in the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of La Coruña (University of A Coruña).
The edustream system brings physical and virtual spaces closer together, facilitating communication between students and teachers, whether they participate in classroom classes in person or remotely.
The company cinfo designed and customized this solution, that was fine-tuned in the classes of the UDC Master in innovation and digital strategy, and that allows the teacher to give his class normally and students who are connected remotely see it as if they were physically in the classroom.
Using artificial intelligence algorithms, The deployed solution follows the teacher if he moves in the classroom so that the student always sees and hears him perfectly. It also gives access to what is written on the board through screenshots, that are captured and saved in real time, as well as visualize any projection that is made in the classroom.
All this is combined with a solution of stream Adaptive so that the student who is at home can follow the class without problems, regardless of the quality of your Internet connection.
Based on edustream and following the requirements of the directors of the UDC Master in innovation and digital strategy, Cinfo adapted the system so that the entire solution could be managed from a computer located in the classroom, In addition to combining two cameras (one that follows the teacher's movements in real time and another that focuses on students); Use a high-quality sound system and integrate with the video conferencing system Microsoft Teams.
The system is completed with two monitors. One projects the Microsoft Teams interface (The implemented solution allows you to customize the view of this system, which is offered even by mixing two views at the same time) so that all students can see each other and participate at any time.
The other monitor is used to share presentations, both of the students or teacher present in the classroom and with those who are remote.
The edustream system was successfully tested and validated in the classes of this master's degree, as pointed out by its co-director and chair of the UDC Competence and Development Group, Andres Faiña: "We are very happy with the quality of the broadcast and the students also appreciate having an interactive system like this".
Antonio Rodriguez del Corral, CEO of cinfo, underlines "the importance of these solutions, who have come to stay and remove barriers, so that everyone can access the best teaching, wherever they are".
The implementation of the edustream project at UDC is the result of the collaborative effort between cinfo, the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Competition and Development Group. The versatility of the system allows it to be used for teaching purposes, strengthen research collaboration with international teams and promote the transfer to companies and dissemination of research results.
The edustream system, that was presented on the market in November last year, is already installed in 215 classrooms and, through him, More than 1.200 tuition, with more than 6.000 Remote connections of students who could not go to their centers.
