The Zephyr train, with a stainless steel aerodynamic body and a state-of-the-art diesel-electric engine, revolutionized the image of train travel and reduced fuel and maintenance costs. Although at first people were shocked, ended up falling in love with this ‘aerodynamic transport’ and its elegant design, which was even reflected in everyday articles in society.

So says John Llewellyn, msi creative director: “Pioneer Zephyr is a beloved piece of transportation and museum history that has captivated visitors for generations. We are delighted to reopen this icon to the public to experience its beautiful design and incredible history up close., that sets the stage for what you can expect when you explore the rest of the museum”.

A key part of the exhibition update - which was carried out to help energize the Zephyr for new generations- is the projected media piece, of some 52 meters long, that runs along the train making the visitor feel that he is part of it and its movement.

Projections also show the so-called West wind view, which not only provides a sense of movement, but highlights the influence of the Pioneer Zephyr on the evolution of transport, aerodynamics and rationalization of industrial design.

For this renovation project, Creative Technology Group took care of the installation, supervised by the director of the same, Michael Fuller, who with your computer selected the screen Fullwhite AV Stumpfl as the perfect projection surface for it, since its borderless appearance would help create the immersive environment of the projected content.

specifically, a total of three Fullwhihe screens of AV Stumpfl have been installed for the exhibition, with dimensions each of 43,8 width by 13,8 high. the computer also specified the media server Pixera mini Quad from this Austrian manufacturer to control the three projectors and the content they showed.

“Using AV Stumpfl products in our design for the Pioneer Zephyr project was the best option we could take," Fuller explains. “Its technology is cutting-edge in the industry, with high quality products with meticulous details, and that's really shown in the end result.. The customer service support we received from them was tremendous, And the fact that they trained our installation team earlier was key to our 180° projection surface”.

Visitors to the museum “They are delighted with the new exhibition, and they are captivated by the large multimedia piece that brings energy and movement to the train-adds Sheila Cawley, Vp. of MSI- external affairs. Children and their parents are inspired to learn the history of the Zephyr and explore the science and engineering behind train travel. The new exhibition is a spectacle”.

The renovation of the Pioneer Zephyr exhibition has been made possible thanks to the support of the Grainger Foundation of Lake Forest, as pointed out by those responsible for the museum.
