Ocean Park Hong Kong updates its lighting with Elation's moving heads
The moving heads of Elation SixPar Z19 IP and Proteus Hybrid have been used to modernize the lighting of the entrance area and the multimedia shows of the Ocean Park Hong Kong.
Hand in hand with MPHK Group and Elation Professional, Ocean Park Hong Kong has incorporated new dynamic lighting into its facilities. These affect its iconic main entrance, as well as his multimedia shows 'Gala of Lights'. The show and the improvements in the lighting of the whole park were designed by the multimedia studio Moment Factory.
Located in the southern district of Hong Kong, Ocean Park is an oceanographic, an animal center and a theme park, all-in-one. With more than four decades, this facility fuses entertainment with advocacy for conservation and education. It is one of the oldest recreational parks and tourist attractions in the city.
The attraction of this water park begins at the same entrance. And this is why the arch of the marquee of this area attracts visitors with lighting effects produced by ten led moving heads Proteus Maximus. Ip65 rated computers that offer 50.000 Power lumens and are used to spread color and 'pattern' through the entrance square, while powerful beams cut through ambient light to help create excitement and foreshadow the emotions that await further inside.
The areas of the ticket offices, the coral alley, the promenade and the village are bathed in colour by 157 SixPar Z19 IP luminaires, six-color PAR lights with IP65 zoom and rating.
Based in Hong Kong, MPHK Group entertainment technology specialists supplied Elation's equipment to the contractor BYME Engineering for lighting update of the main entrance.
Great Aquarium and Aqua City Lagoon
The Great Aquarium, one of the most emblematic attractions of Ocean Park, and the Aqua City Lagoon, located right next door, host the 'Gala of Lights', the multimedia evening show of 360 degrees that excite visitors in an immersive multisensory experience.
“We wanted to improve the existing architecture in Aqua City by illuminating the areas surrounding the lagoon and encouraging visitors to stay and experience the new night offers”, explains Timothy Ng, Executive Director, Operations and Entertainment, Ocean Park Hong Kong.
'Gala of Lights' features two immersive multimedia shows: 'Soul of the Ocean', that celebrates nature in all its extension, and 'Visions of Hong Kong', taking the audience on an inspiring journey through the city and beyond.
MPHK supplied Elation's lighting, along with that of its sister company Acclaim, to the contractor ArcSource for the installation of the Lagoon area. some 48 moving heads Proteus Hybrid beam/spot/wash mounted on light poles, around the Lagoon area, serve both aesthetic and functional purposes; whereas 8 Proteus Hybrid luminaires work from the roof of the Aquarium.
Products Acclaim Include 56 linear Led luminaires Aqua Graze and 8 wash luminaires Aqua Drum HO, that have been mounted on stage. some 140 Acclaim Flex Tape meters draw a color outline from the edge of the stage.
The lighting covers a large area and, from their positions on the roof and on the poles, provides multiple sweep beams. “It was necessary to integrate technology into the architecture as seamlessly as possible”, comment Timothy Ng.
Thanks to its ability to position itself at will and project itself in virtually any direction, Proteus Hybrids can be used as beams of light to capture attention at one time and as showlights at the next.
“We wanted the lights to offer a variety of effects to support all show formats, including dynamic lighting and front light for artists”, concludes Timothy Ng.
