The Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville relies on audio-technica microphones
The ATM450 cardioid condenser microphone Audio-Technica is the one that has selected the specialist José Luis Mármol, technical manager of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville (Ross), for the productions of the same.
Both in their concerts and for the recording of all the material disseminated through their platform Ross TV, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville uses microphones Audio-Technica, trusted by the technician in charge of production Joseph Louis Marble (Reserved Sounds).
With more than thirty years of activity, mainly in the environment of classical music and flamenco, Mármol is a specialist in microphones and years ago decided to rely on audio-technica microphones, whose choice “it is based mainly on the very high sound fidelity they achieve”, in his words.
In addition to optimal sound transparency, another requirement that his work in the symphonic world needs is the invisibility of microphones, that must be placed in the right place, but without visually interfering.
That's why, microphone selection ATM450, of which Marble currently uses up to sixteen units, responds to these requirements. A cardioid condenser model with an innovative side-capture design that offers all kinds of positioning options and minimal obstructions.
The ATM450 microphone allows José Luis Mármol to sectorize the orchestra, building ‘bubbles’ sound covering specific areas and, subsequently, facilitate mixing following the director's guidelines, with exceptional sound.
To get the faithful sound that this expert is looking for, he also devotes a lot of attention to a correct and careful maintenance of all his microphones, such as the periodic replacement of diaphragms or their preservation in stable temperature conditions, to ensure your uniformity of response over time.
Apart from his work with the ROSS, Mármol is also a regular collaborator of the renowned guitarist and composer José María Gallardo del Rey, who has become the most requested soloist by orchestras around the world.
The latest project of this artist is Spanish Guitar Academy, an Internet platform for the training of classical guitarists. Much of the material offered is in audiovisual format, whose production is the responsibility of José Luis Mármol, for which he has also been using audio-technica microphones.
Mármol also remembers his experience with the use of the ATM450 microphone with the flamenco dancer Farruquito, and with which he captured the artist's shoeing.
To do this, this specialist placed several units under each of the dance boards, with phase correction, creating a catchment area that provided optimal results. He has also resorted to the use of this microphone for the capture of an instrument as delicate as the flamenco cajon.
